less than illuminating

Constant typographical errors, rehashed reporting to add volume to stories. Digital version flooded with ads that obscure the screen - more flashing lights than in a casino, reporting is hardly up to the minute despite intrusive alerts. Little by way of national reporting. Feedback/comments from the same boorish quasi intellectuals who maintain running commentary of each others comments, seldom offer insight other than into bigotry and self interest. A newspaper owned by a person facing domestic violence charges is hardly worth bragging about as a source of information.

Stops working

If I read the paper online it kicks me out around the sports section. I have to close the app and restart it. It does not do this if I read via the articles ie if I don’t load the paper.

One sided reporting

I find that i prefer reading the comments online to the reporting, rather than the reporting itself. This is because the reporting is very biased, largely the options of the reporter. Many of the reporters are leftists and will not present the other side of the argument. It’s no longer balanced reporting. CT would be better served by looking at the comments section to know what its readers think. I would probably fire most of the hard left and even hard right reporters. We need balance media , not propaganda. I remain a subscriber because i want local news, but it’s on thin ice.

Mistakes introduced in latest updates

Since the last couple of updates the app:
. Spontaneously closes when scrolling or changing pages
. Often shows a blank page when returning from an article which requires changing from one menu to another and back again to populate the page again
. The first lines under the headlines in the index page disappear and return while scrolling through the index
. In the puzzles, the given letters in the codeword don’t start in green but instead in black and can be deleted. It requires a reset for the given letters to appear in green.
. When the codeword is completed the timer does not stop.

Excellent

I love the Canberra Times!:) excellent news articles and I love Canberra.

For the people

The Canberra Times is a great voice for the people of Canberra

Nearly always predictably left

The Canberra Times makes a pedestal for the like minded, on which to stand and preach, figuratively. It’s an echo chamber of the voices who have not rarely to risk much more than the support of like minded colleagues.
I’m yet to see articles featuring the successful risk takers or those who battles with the bureaucracy that many in small businesses face.
Condemnation never is against the Canberra Elite, preferring to be nurtured in their echo chamber.

A very easy to use app

The app work well on both iPad and mobile

Stolen section of my reading pane

You have installed an advertisement on every reading page which cannot be removed which effectively steals 20% of my reading pane. It is extremely provocative and annoying especially when it cannot be removed or scrolled past and even more annoying when it flashes while I am trying to read an article. You preach that we should read traditional media, but these money grabbing tactics only force people onto social media.

You have not addressed my complaint that the permanent advertisement on the bottom of the reading page can not be scrolled past or away, it is permanent and very annoying when it flashes or scrolls while I am trying to read an article. It can occasionally be closed but the box remains which is better than the flashing/scrolling. The fact remains that my reading pane has been reduced by about 20% which is completely unethical. But ethics have long been a casualty of big business profits….. haven’t they?
My rating of your app remains the same, and I am spreading the word.

Hi Paul, The advertisements should be able to scroll past to continue the story content reading. If you come across an advertisement that you are unable to scroll past and is blocking the story content, please email subscriptionsupport@austcommunitymedia.com.au or call 1300 131 095, option 2 so ACM can investigate.

Log in mania

This has to be the worst subscriber web site among major Australian media. I frequently have to enter my password three times to get into the paper, and if I go off to visit another web site, I have to start all over again. Navigation between pages is also very clunky, no better than standards a decade ago.

No thanks

Good format. Quality commentary. Thx

Enjoy the CT news daily to keep informed and entertained.

We have constant problem with the Canberra Time app subscription.

It will often only allow it to work on my wife’s IPHONE, it regularly stops working on my IPad and my IPHONE it’s supposedly is meant to work on all three devices. My wife has contact the Canberra Times over the last few years but we still have this issue of it not working. It is terribly poor yet their add constantly advertise multiple devices.

A very disappointed long term customer. Brian

Review ct - sat 11/5

Still very user unfriendly online - have been an avid reader since 1956!

Average

Not a good app. Not user friendly. Even if you haven’t used it for days, it takes you back to the article/section you were last in. Search function is also annoying - again saving searches from days ago, not clearing the search after a short period. Also no filter function on the search.

I enjoy the content but the app needs improvement

Please, please, please allow me to jump between hyperlinks to different articles without automatically logging me out of the app each time.

Yeah its Ok, but frustrating

Generally its OK……..however I get that news sites need to advertise to make money, but when the advert sits in front of and over the text of the article you are reading (thereby making that article unreadable) it is very annoying, especially since you still need to subscribe to the paper. Grrrrr fix it or lose a subscription
