I play Candies ‘n Curses when I have little to no internet connection and want to spend time and cure my boredom. I usually uninstall my offline games once they get boring, but I’m in love with the pixel art and graphics here, which are so satisfying to the eye and smooth. The gameplay is balanced and challenging. It’s not pay-to-win, the levels get harder as you progress (it makes an effort to avoid repetitiveness too), and no “challenge” or “side task” is too easy. There are many items (flashlights, curses, candies, achievements, bosses) you can collect, so it’ll be long before you get bored. There’s also a leaderboard and speed run timer if you’re competitive. The settings allow you to customize your gameplay according to its difficulty (assist mode) and graphics. Surprisingly, all of this was made by a small team, which makes it all the more impressive. I don’t usually write reviews (not this long anyway) but this game is enjoyable overall and I highly recommend you play it.
