Hey iiiuiuiii, Firstly, thanks so much for trying out our app and leaving feedback, we really appreciate it. I wanted to give you a little more information. We ask for information about what US state you're in at the start of the calculator. We keep an up-to-date table of data that tells us, for each state, the average lbs of CO2 emitted per $ spent. From this data, we can calculate the emissions from electricity and gas using your approximate monthly bill. From talking to our users we found that the monthly bill was the easiest number to recall, so you don't need to go looking for specifics like kWh - as you said, this would be the most accurate possible method, but in order to help the most people possible to cut their footprint, we took care to balance precision with ease-of-use. We make sure to benchmark our calculator regularly and we're among the most accurate on the market despite this. Thanks again, The Carbn team
