What's New in CarMGT
2026.8
October 4, 2026
CarMGT 2026.8 expands beyond cars with new vehicle types, smarter Trip Prep, calendar and widget support, Parts & Accessories, boat trips, GPX export, and major trip-tracking improvements. • More than cars Add a motorcycle, UTV, ATV, boat, or generator. CarMGT adapts to what each one actually uses — runtime hours instead of an odometer for boats and generators, or both distance and hours for a UTV — with maintenance items to match. Just choose the type when adding a vehicle. • Get ready before the trip Build a Trip Prep checklist for any drive or adventure, with separate suggestions for vehicle checks and things to bring. Start with recommended items, add gear you already own, and save any checklist as a reusable template. Find Trip Prep on Today or in a vehicle’s More menu. • Trip Prep reminders Give a Trip Prep a date and CarMGT can remind you the day before, then again when the trip begins, including how much of your checklist is still unfinished. You can turn these reminders off in Trip Settings. • Calendar sync is now available to everyone Calendar sync no longer requires Pro. Turn it on in Settings and your maintenance reminders — along with any dated Trip Prep — can appear in your personal calendar. • Your next trip on the Home Screen The new Upcoming Trip widget shows when your next planned trip begins and how much of the checklist is ready. Add it from the widget gallery. • Track Parts & Accessories Every vehicle now has a Parts & Accessories list for purchases that aren’t logged as maintenance, such as wiper blades, a roof rack, a winch, or a spare sensor. Purchases appear as their own category in monthly, yearly, and exported totals without changing maintenance schedules. Open a vehicle and tap More to find it. • A cleaner vehicle toolbar Vehicle screens now use Edit and More instead of a row of action icons. Update Odometer, Parts & Accessories, Trip Prep, and OBD-II Diagnostics are all under More. On iPad, Reorder Maintenance is there too. • Trips on the water Boats can record trips too. Start one from the boat’s screen, and when it ends CarMGT can update the hour meter using the time underway. Any trip with a recorded route can also be exported as a GPX file so you can use the same path again. • CarMGT learns which vehicle you’re driving Correct a trip once — by moving tracking to the right vehicle or starting the trip yourself — and CarMGT remembers which vehicle belongs to that stereo. The next drive can start on the correct vehicle automatically. What it learns stays on your iPhone. • You choose when CarPlay updates the odometer CarPlay trips continue to add their distance automatically by default. Turn this off in Trip Settings if you prefer to confirm each trip first, especially when several of your vehicles connect to CarPlay. • See how automatic trip tracking works Settings → CarPlay & Trip Tracking now includes a replayable walkthrough covering how automatic tracking starts, opening CarMGT on the CarPlay display, and what to do when it doesn’t open. • Trip history you can trust When deleting a trip that already updated the odometer, CarMGT now asks whether you also want to remove that distance. It also avoids adding unrelated travel, such as a bus ride before you get into your car, to the beginning of your drive. • Trip-tracking fixes Trips no longer end during a long stop if CarPlay disconnects mid-drive. The starting distance survives a quick stop between errands, and opening a trip notification no longer asks you to start a trip that is already being tracked.
