Sad. No sound effects.
The player itself is still pretty cool but, there used to be sound effects in the old versions. Now, due to some Apple DRM whatever, there is no more cassette sound effects. I honestly really connected to that. There was something just interesting about it even though I didn’t really grow up in the old world. It was something that connected the songs like an invisible bridge. Now that that’s not there anymore, I just have visuals. And it’s not as fun with the visuals. i’m a sad fox

complete waste of $
freezes upon song selection, only loads a 0.001% of the albums and playlists from the library.

I'm sorry to trouble you. Can you explain the specific music service you use so that I can troubleshoot the problem?
Please fix this
There is a Grey overlay on the cassette interface that I know represents the cover of the cassette deck but it's never aligned with the cassette. So 1/4th of the cassette interface isn't covered creating the illusion that the cassette is sticking out from the player. The Grey overlay should completely cover the cassette to actually emerse the listener in the illusion of having a walkman in our hands. Outside of that, this app is cool as hell. Reminds me a lot of the walkman my mom got me as a kid when she realized I hated my portable cd player because of the skipping. Thanks for bringing back memories. Stay amazing devs. 🦊💜🦊

A message to the developer
Navidrome support is what convinced me to buy this app. I can also tell it’s in active development, and that was another reason I decided to purchase.
That said, the cassette spin animation still needs some tuning, and the selection of cassette players and cassette skins feels pretty limited right now. I also noticed the cassette label doesn’t reliably show song information, which would be a big quality-of-life improvement.
I’m leaving a 5-star rating for now because I’m optimistic these issues will get addressed. Feature wise, I’d love to see analog and digital VU meters, plus more cassette designs and player skins. Another fun addition would be a Metal Gear Solid V–inspired cassette and cassette player skin like the one Venom Snake uses in MGSV (similar in style to a Sony WM-R55).
I’m going to keep the positive rating and check back in a couple of months to see what’s changed. The developer is on the right track, and once the rough edges are smoothed out, I’ll be happy to spread the word.
