Simple with minimal ads
Overall a good app. I tried a few and found Castro easiest to use. Minimal ads that aren’t intrusive. My one complaint is that I wish it would hide played episodes like other apps.
Castro is back!
Castro was my favorite podcast app until it fell into disrepair. It has a sleek, elegant, powerful-yet-simple interface, built around a simple concept that makes it easy to find and play the podcast episodes you want and discard the rest. And I’m thrilled that Dustin Bluck decided to take over the development of this app and restore it to its former glory. Dustin knows exactly what made Castro special. Seems the app couldn’t have ended up in better hands.

Queue is a game changer
I was a long time Apple Podcast user and am so glad Castro was recommended to me. As someone who rarely gets to all of their podcasts, the way Castro handles queues and downloads is so much better.
I’m a daily user of Castro
I’ve been using Castro for years with only a few minor issues, but recently it’s started draining my battery whenever I use it during my daily run. I’ll start with my phone at 100%, and by the time I’m finished, the battery has dropped dramatically. Today, for example, it went from 100% to 36%, with nothing else running on my phone.
It’s really disappointing because I’ve enjoyed using Castro for years, but if this continues, I simply won’t be able to use it on my longer runs. I’m hoping this is a bug that can be addressed in an update soon.
