About

Identify ~1,500 fish species offline in about a second, measure your catch, and watch every fish you've caught swim in your own water. CatchRules is a fish identifier and a living catch log. Photograph what you caught, get the species on-device with no account and no signal, record the length — and every fish you name joins your water and swims there, at the size you recorded, at the depth it really lives. IDENTIFY ANY FISH, OFFLINE Photograph your catch and CatchRules names the species in about a second. The on-device AI classifier recognizes 1,494 fish species, from largemouth bass and rainbow trout to halibut, red drum, Chinook salmon, and hundreds more. No internet, no cloud upload, no account. Works at the dock, on the boat, or deep in the backcountry. YOUR CATCHES, ALIVE Every fish you identify joins your water and swims there — at the length you recorded, at the depth it really lives. Descend from the 2 m shallows through the weed edge and the channel to 80 m of open blue. The light dims, the colour goes, suspended matter streams past as you drop, and the species change with the depth: bluegill and largemouth up top, walleye and pike at the drop-off, striped bass and sturgeon in the channel, tuna and sailfish out deep. 50 game fish to collect, from common to legendary, each on a photoreal model that swims the way that species actually swims — a tuna covers water in long glides, a lingcod hangs. Log a length and the fish is rendered at that size, so your personal best looks like a personal best. No care loop, no timers, no feeding. It is a trophy case, not a pet. MEASURE YOUR CATCH Tap the fish's head. Tap its tail. LiDAR-equipped iPhones (Pro models, iPhone 12 Pro and newer) read the length in seconds, accurate to the centimeter in good light. No ruler, no tape, no guesswork. Reference only — always confirm size with a physical ruler before keeping a catch. LOG EVERY CATCH Every identification lands in your personal collection: a visual log of every species you've photographed, with dates, locations and measured lengths. Your biggest of each species takes its place in the water, so the collection is a record of your best fish rather than your most recent. SPECIES NOTES Each species has its own card — what it is, where it lives, how to tell it from the fish it gets confused with, and hand-written notes on more than 1,500 species. CATCHRULES PRO • Unlimited Species ID — no daily caps, and identifies fully offline • Import from Photos — identify your camera roll straight into the catch log • Re-identify Saved Catches — correct or fill in the species on any past catch Species identifications and measurements are for reference only and may be incomplete or wrong. Always verify with your local wildlife agency before keeping a catch.

What's New in CatchRules

August 9, 2026

Your catches are alive. WATER — every fish you identify now swims in your own water, at the length you recorded, at the depth it really lives. Descend from the 2 m shallows to 80 m of open blue and watch the light, the colour and the species change as you go. 50 GAME FISH TO COLLECT — from common to legendary, each on a photoreal model that swims the way that species swims. A new board tracks which you have found, grouped by depth. CLEARER WATER — retuned so the fish read as fish: markings, colour and detail survive the depth instead of washing out to blue. Also in this release: • The water runs edge to edge, with no letterboxing above or below it • Smoother depth control, and the camera follows a lone fish instead of losing it • A smaller download Regulations and tides have been removed. CatchRules is now focused on what it does best: identifying your catch and keeping it.
