About

Cathedra records your lectures and turns them into text on your iPhone, so you can stop writing things down and actually listen. RECORD WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT Add your timetable once and Cathedra reminds you a few minutes before each class, with recording one tap away from the Lock Screen. Lock your phone and leave it on the desk — recording carries on. Pause it when the lecturer takes a break and resume when they come back. READ IT BACK AFTERWARDS Every recording becomes a timestamped transcript. Tap any line to hear exactly what was said at that moment, at up to double speed. The original audio is always kept, because a transcript is a convenience and the recording is the record. FIND ANYTHING, ACROSS EVERY LECTURE Search the full text of every lecture you have ever recorded. Type a term and see every moment across the whole semester where it came up — including all the times a lecturer said "this is in the exam". ASK YOUR LECTURES ANYTHING With Cathedra AI, ask about one lecture or a whole course — "what did the lecturer say would be on the exam?" — and get an answer written from what was actually said, with the moment it was said. Tap it to hear the lecturer say it. THE WHOLE LECTURE ON ONE PAGE Every lecture can become a summary: an overview, the key points with the moment each was made, the terms, and what to revise. Turn the terms into flashcards that come back just before you would forget them, or quiz yourself on what was said. BUILT FOR ANY UNIVERSITY Semesters, trimesters, quarters, blocks, Dutch periodes, or one continuous year: pick the shape your university actually uses. Set the dates yourself. Import your timetable from any calendar already on your iPhone, or type it in. EXAMS AND DEADLINES ON THE SAME CALENDAR See your classes and your exams in one month view. Mark a class as cancelled and its reminder goes with it. Schedule a make-up session for a new time. MORE THAN 40 LANGUAGES Set the language your lecturer actually speaks, per course. Cathedra uses your iPhone's own speech recognition, which covers more than forty languages. The interface itself is translated into 22. ON YOUR LAPTOP TOO Sign in with just your email address — no password — and your courses and transcripts are there at cathedra.study, where you can read them and ask Cathedra AI from a keyboard. The account is optional: everything on the iPhone works without one. YOUR LECTURES ARE YOURS Recordings never leave your iPhone, and transcription happens on the device. Courses, timetables and transcripts sync through your own iCloud; the audio does not. If you sign in, your courses, transcripts and questions — never the audio — are also kept on your Cathedra account so the website can show them. No advertising, no tracking and no third-party code. Usage statistics carry nothing that says who you are, and Settings switches them off. Cathedra AI fixes a new transcript's misheard terms and answers what you ask: the text goes through our server to the AI service, and is not kept there. WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU RECORD Recording a lecture captures someone else's voice. Whether you may is decided by local law and your university's rules. Many institutions allow it for personal study and prohibit sharing; some ask you to get permission first. Please check, and do not publish a recording of someone who did not agree to it. CATHEDRA AI Recording, transcription, search, the timetable, and summaries and flashcards made on your iPhone are free. Cathedra AI — questions about a lecture or a whole course, quizzes, reading a lecture in your own language, and photographs of the board explained — is an optional subscription, Pro or Max, monthly or yearly. It renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time in your Apple Account settings. What's New in Cathedra

2.1.1

September 19, 2026

Cathedra 2.1.1 fixes a crash in 2.1: the app could close a few seconds after opening, or when asking a question in Ask. Cathedra 2.1 corrects what the recogniser mishears, and puts a split lecture back together. • Technical terms the speech recogniser got wrong are corrected when a lecture finishes, for free, and the corrections can be undone. • A lecture recorded in two parts can be joined into one, audio and transcript together. Imported files that are parts of one lecture are joined as they come in. • A lecture recorded under the wrong course can be moved to the right one. • Several chats per course in Ask, each one kept to come back to. • A whole course's transcripts at once: copy them, or save them as a text file or a PDF. • Mark an exam as a quiz, a midterm or a final. From the week of the final, the course's classes and their reminders stop. • Summaries divide a lecture into chapters, and the transcript shows them as headings. • Share a lecture as a link: anyone who has it can read the transcript and the summary. • Courses, the timetable, chats and notes made at cathedra.study come to your iPhone. • With Cathedra AI: a lecture as a mind map, a five-minute audio summary in two voices, and live captions in your language while you record. • Yearly plans start with a free week. • Many fixes to recording, reminders, sync and search.
