Rubbish - do not buy

I suffer with severe generalised anxiety disorder and hav been having some CBT. I thought I would get this app to help me with recording my thoughts by making the process easier but it really didn't help at all and is far too basic in it's makeup - do not waste ur money - I am going to look for a better app right now!

Extremely useful!!

This is the most useful app I have (& I have loads!!)...this is real head-sorting,mind changing stuff,& it has helped me put things into perspective big-time!! I love it,& it has helped me many times in the relatively short time i've had it. It's better & so much cheaper than a therapist. I have recommended it to many people,& will continue to do so. It takes the worry out of worrying. Thanks to whoever made this app!!

Not really CBT

All this does is give you a place to write your thought, decide what kind of thought it is, and write a rebuttle. There is really no guidance. There is no place to connect the thought to your feelings, or the event. You really can do about as much with a "notes" app and a list of the types of thoughts from most any CBT website or book. This was a huge disappointment. I wish I had believed the other reviews and saved the $4.99.

Simple & effective

I don't know about most people but the old way of cbt (ie carting around a notebook) and trying to write down thoughts is cumbersome and hard to maintain. This app is different from the others because it's USer friendly interface and easy to do application of cbt on the fly. It's the only app thus far that got cbt right, but most importantly I've been jotting down my thoughts and using the apps features to help me manage my mind:)

Too pricey

Read the description. It tells you what to do, don't need this app then. OCD sufferers may get sucked in by their desire to get help and pay before thinking it through. I did.

Would be fine if it wasn't so expensive. Worth .99, not 4.99.

It does the job but it isnt great

Entering your thoughts in this app is fairly straight forward and I like the password protection and the ability to search through your thought records.

However there are some areas that need improvement: 1) You only get 2 examples provided with the app, it needs a few more to really be helpful. 2) You dont get the ability to enter a situation/scenario and then enter the negative thoughts relative to it - each thought is just entered separately. 3) When writing your realistic thoughts you just get a blank screen, you dont see the original thought or the thinking errors on the same screen, you have to flip back to the first or second screen to see them, which is not ideal.

It wont help you to learn all about CBT but if you are already used to writing your thoughts down on paper, it makes the job a little easier. Not as good as I thought it would be though. Hopefully there will be future updates with improvements

So basic

Not a lot of thought gone into this. If you are not familiar with CBT then it’s not that useful. You are better off with the free online CBT courses. Sorry not worth the money.

Excellent apart from Font size

Seems to work very well ... when I can read it and follow my own notes which are too small! We need the ability to change the font size and direction.

Save your money

It's worth $0.99 at the most. No password protection, no real "features", just a place to write down your thoughts for the whole world to see. Use "Notes" instead and save yourself the money. Not even cognitive behavioral therapy can help rationalize the disappointment in this app.

I expected more for the price

Although the concept is good, I was mistakenly thought the app would analyze and determine the type of thinking it "sees". It doesn't do a lot for the price. I think one or two dollars at most!

Very good

A helpfull app that works. Don't take notice of the negative reviews, you can now set a password and edit/delete.

Cbtreferee

I just downloaded & This is a good, sparse app that gets to the basic ABC format of disputing self-defeating thoughts. Superior to eCBT in many ways. I Really like the fact that complete records can now be emailed. I have long experience with written thought work, so here is my wish list: 1) Allow for a few more fields such as "activating event", "emotions/feelings" (before & after), & couple of numeric intensity wheels to document changes. 2) I like eCBT's options to take Beck Depression Test to spot check & also option to look at patterns & identify core beliefs

The reviews told me not to buy it but I didn't listen

I don't write reviews, but if doing so prevents you from buying this worthless app, then I have saved more people then this ever will. Unfortunate because for the price you would expect to at least have potential.

Not worth the money

I think the simplicity of the app is one of its advantages, but it lacks polish and should provide more functionality for the price paid for it.

Also, the screenshots lead me to believe this app had it's own passcode protection, but that button simply leads to instructions on how to enable it n your entire phone. No thanks.

If it was priced at $1 or $2 instead of 5, my rating would have probably been a 3.

Needs proper password protection

For the price - very high for an app - this one is incredibly simple: identify the thought; determine the incorrect thinking; challenge the thinking. But I think they should be using properly fleshed out cbt principles - e.g. identify what happened, identify the thought, identify the feeling, identify the unhelpful thinking style, etc. They haven't done that either, so it's actually not very useful. It should be a 99c app if that.

The main thing though is that it needs password protection on the app itself. They're expecting the phone's pw to be enough but I often give my phone to others to play with, so the app itself needs it. I find it laughable that they actually have a button for password protection but when you press it all it says is that you can have a password on your iPhone, so use that!

The app also has numerous spelling errors in it, which suggests to me that it was hastily done. Lift your game, lower your price!

Needs password

I use a number of apps which cost significantly less but which are password protected, it shouldn't be that hard. Personally I don't feel comfortable using the app as it stands cos all it takes is someone to watch me type in my pin and then they know my darkest thoughts!!

Not very well thought out, shame tho cos the app could be quite useful.

Is this all there is?

Not a whole lot to get excited about here.
I was expecting a few interactive suggestions to "accent the positive. "
No Dice.
Oh well.
Brings new meaning to the term "heal thyself"

Love It!

I really like this app. I have also bought eCBT & this one is much better. It is simple & direct... compared to eCBT which has a bit more info on the CBT method, but isnt that helpful.
I like how you can look back eaisily through everything you have entered to remind you.
If you are unfamiliar with CBT i'd recommend you read about it on the net & then get this app to help you follow through with it.
My only negative- It really does need an edit & delete button!!!

Interesting, but needs more work

I like the idea of using the iPhone to challenge and restructure our faulty beliefs, but I think the app needs more work.

New features I would like to see in a future upgrade are:

1) allow the user to edit previously entered thoughts and their associated forms and referee statement;

2) allow users to delete previously entered thoughts;

3) extend the list of forms and/or allow users to extend the list; and

4) provide password protection beyond that provided by the operating system.

Perfect

Knowing a little about CBT, I find this beautiful little app to be the perfect blend of functionality and simplicity. Lasting therapy requires that you do the work yourself. This app makes that task easy and elegant. App's like this have the potential to change the world.
