About

Hold your iPhone up to the sky and CelestQuest shows you what's there: the stars, planets, constellations, the Moon and the space stations passing over, lined up with the real sky through your camera. POINT AND KNOW • Rings mark the real stars and planets your camera can see, with their names beside them • Put anything in the centre circle to see what it is, how far away it is, and how long its light took to reach you • Constellation lines join the stars without covering them up • Works by day too: see where the Moon, planets and stars are while daylight hides them ASK "WHERE IS SATURN?" • Type or say what you're looking for: "Where is Venus?", "the North Star", "Big Dipper" • An arrow and plain words lead you there: "turn left 40°, then tilt up 20°" • Below the horizon? It tells you when and where it comes up DIVE IN • Hold something in the circle and the view dives in for a close-up: planets turning with their moons going round, stars in their own colours, galaxies in their own shapes • A little map shows where it sits in the Milky Way, and how big it is next to something you know TAKE THE SKY TOUR • A guided trip through the best things up right now, read aloud • It starts near where you're pointing LISTEN TO THE SKY • Hear the sky as a music box: each star rings as it crosses the meridian • "Play tonight" turns the whole night, dusk to dawn, into a short song you can save MADE FOR DARK SKIES • Works offline: the sky is worked out on your iPhone • Night vision turns the names, maps and buttons red to help keep your eyes dark-adapted • Positions include the air's refraction, so things near the horizon sit where you really see them • Compass a little off? Line up on the Moon or a bright star and the names sit right on the real sky PRIVATE No accounts, no ads, no tracking. Your location never leaves your iPhone. Star data: HYG Database (CC BY-SA 4.0). Constellations: d3-celestial. Satellite orbits: CelesTrak.
