About
CELLO PULSE is a rhythm and pitch calibration instrument designed specifically for cello practice.
It integrates pitch training, tuning, and tempo control into a coherent practice system, helping players build stable pitch awareness and a reliable sense of time through long-term use.
Unlike teaching-oriented applications, CELLO PULSE is closer to a professional device placed on a music stand.
It does not instruct or rush.
It provides clear and dependable references only when you need them.
Sight Singing
The sight-singing function centers on the staff, presenting note positions to help beginners establish a direct connection between note names, pitch, and notation.
During practice, a target note is displayed on the staff, guiding the player or learner to identify and internalize the correct pitch position.
Two input methods are supported:
Performance Mode: the system automatically detects the played pitch and provides real-time feedback.
Manual Mode: notes are selected through touch interaction, enabling pure auditory and score-reading training. This mode is suitable for situations without an instrument or when reinforcing theoretical memory.
Training content is based on first position fundamentals, covering the full range of natural notes and gradually extending into higher registers.
Through consecutive correct recognition, a steady practice rhythm is formed, subtly guiding the player toward higher positions and more refined pitch control.
Tuning
The tuning function is designed for pitch calibration before and during practice.
It supports independent selection and real-time pitch deviation display for the four cello strings: C, G, D, and A, assisting in synchronizing the ear with physical playing gestures.
In tuning mode, the system automatically identifies the closest string based on the detected frequency, reducing unnecessary interaction and interruption.
The tuning process remains minimal and unobtrusive, preserving practice continuity.
Tempo
The tempo module centers on visual timekeeping, simulating the motion of a mechanical metronome to provide a stable and perceivable temporal reference.
Through a dynamic needle and rhythmic pulse, it helps players develop a bodily sense of time rather than relying on intrusive audio cues.
Quick switching between commonly used tempos and precise BPM adjustment are supported, making it suitable for slow practice, technical training, and rhythmic calibration.
