Functionally good with good UI and stable performance

Prompts get duplicated when synced. There are now hundreds of them that can only be deleted one by one. Would be nice if there’s a way to reset the app and its iCloud data.

Needs improvement

Chat Ai does not respond. Error with model gpt (none works from the options) does not exist or do not have access/ exceeded Lifetime subscription but No tutorial or help section in the app. Not worthy!

Thanks for your interested in Joy. The lifetime upgrade allows you to use your own API key. Go to Joy settings -> Advanced -> API Key to update. For how to, see the documentation https://docs.indiegoodies.com/joy/quick-start#unlock-lifetime

Good app

functionality is stable so far - would love to have additional functionality built in (e.g. local models, RAG) - happy to help with specific user stories if the developer is interested in improving this further

App works

I see a few negative comments posted. This app works as intended, I purchased the lifetime option and use my own API key. The app is installed on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. My chats sync across devices, and I can copy text in say preview, right click and use the text as an input to a prompt.

I had some previous concerns which were timely addressed by the developer.

the characters doesn't seem to be functional

no matter what prompts you wrote in the description, doesn't work when you start new conversation.

Not a good app. Lifetime license is a sham.

The developer somehow had all the previous negative reviews removed including mine. So here it is again. They sell a “lifetime” license, but then remove the key functionality to run queries and instead FORCE, not “allow”, you to use your own API key which costs you money. This was never explained ahead of time. And instead of responding to these issues, they just copy/paste the same response to everyone else complaining. Stay away.

Joy is a UI for ChatGPT and many other AI services. In Advanced settings you have the option to unlock the ability to use your own API Key Lifetime here means you don't have to pay for subscription, but a one time purchase that allows you to use your own API Key

Have no clue.

Added: even though I’ve made the lifetime purchase, the API key section shows as blank.

Useless App! Please, AVOID!!!

After installing and trying to use the app for a few minutes, I found that it just doesn't work at all. I had high hopes for this app but what's the point of having it? If nothing works at all. Avoid!!!

Nothing works

Tried to chat and generate image but app said I needed API key first. I couldn’t accesss key so I deleted and re installed app. I found out I lost lifetime access by deleting app and am unable to regain lifetime access.

Joy serves as a user interface for ChatGPT and various other AI services. Within its Advanced settings, there's a feature allowing you to utilize your own API Key. The newest update of Joy provides enhanced error details, specifically if there's an issue with the API Key you're using

Wouldn’t do anything

I am not a techie but I couldn’t get this app to do anything. I got no response at all when I typed into the chat box There are no instructions or help. It kept asking me to upgrade.

I got a response from the developer on where to get instructions. It said I could either subscribe or get my own API. I went ahead and was able to get an API and inserted it but I still can’t get any response to my requests. I get a message that quickly disappears. Saying something about not having access to something. This is not worth all the fuss trying to figure out how to get it to work.

Joy is a UI for ChatGPT and many other AI services. In Advanced settings you have the option to unlock the ability to use your own API Key In the latest version, Joy will show more detail error if the API Key you use has any issue. Hope that helps to troubleshoot the problem better. Can you check in OpenAI if you have proper usage or have access to certain models

Useless App, don’t waste your time and money

This App is totally useless, and some kind of joke! With a too big price tag even if you purchase, you get nothing but in return you will have to input your own API key in hope that it will work, but even with your own API key this App throws error and doesn’t work.
The developer will reply you with copy/paste single answer to every review!

Nothing works

I have it fully unlocked but no chat or image generation, nothing works. And there is no help button in the app for assistance. Even with an API key logged in ……. Why? How does this really work? It seems you are just charging for administrating an already paid service for Open AI

Not working still

Still not working with latest update. Even with API key in place, nothing works. I still have expectations on this app, please make a video to show how to make it work with user API key.

Lifetime is purposely limited

So if you pay for a regular subscription, you get the included built in API. But if you buy the lifetime one, you have to supply your own API key and pay for your queries. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting lifetime, doesn’t it? And everyone saying this just gets a copy/paste reply from the developer. In fact, they were so quick to paste the same non-answer reply to everyone, they didn’t even bother to see other people were complaining about unrelated issues. If you are going to offer a lifetime option, don’t make it useless without people having to pay for their own API usage.

Requires Paid HatGPT Plus or you can’t use it. Since I do not have paid ChatGPT I don’t really this app.

outputs empty character

the app seems to be a monthly membership, but if you input an API key; magically appears to be free. Then furthermore if attempting to use your API key to chat to the bot, outputs null all the time. I would say avoid for now and if you entered an api key, revoke it.

Main Function isn’t Functional!

I downloaded this app through the Indie App Santa promotion and unfortunately I’ve not been impressed. I’m unsure if there’s an internal server error but everytime I try to get a response for a prompt I just get blank grey boxes in return. I’ve tried many ways to resolve this but there seems to be a bug at the moment. Once it’s fixed I’ll re-review the app.
