So-so service… Garbage App

Had my hopes up when the interface seemed shinier than the clunky website, but that got dull quickly. FIRST, it’s AppleTV (still called iTunes) ONLY, unlike the website which also includes Amazon Prime (sort of), Fandango (still called Vudu years after name change) and the 3 movies available on Google Play. SECOND, it spams every price change to your list, meaning you’ll see upward of 83 unwanted movies red-pipped to your alert list every day. That’s also 83 Push Notifications for random movies, if you turned notifications on. Plus, it’s a tedious, manual, chorded, slide-to-find-the-button delete process for EVERY SINGLE UNWANTED FILM! How about some checkboxes to mass delete? Better yet, just dial down the needy-millennial spam. Simply let me know when what I want is on sale and drop the cyberstalking. You don’t have the algorithms to predict what I might like (because you’re not even close). THIRD, and this applies to the website, too, just because I mark it Purchased doesn’t mean I purchased it today! It’s nearly useless metadata, especially if you bury the editing AND make it exclusive to your AppleTV-only app! Maybe I bought something on UltraViolet that got picked up by Vudu and ported by MoviesAnywhere… that movie was purchased a decade ago not today! I’m just flagging it as already in my library. FOURTH, still conflates RENTAL prices with purchase prices, so chances are that drop from 29.99 to 3.99 will be a letdown. FIFTH, some alerts/notifications/e-mails are for UNAVAILABLE titles: rental only, available through a third-party subscription (title not for purchase), unavailable in your area, or simply unavailable for streaming anywhere as confirmed by a simple internet search!

Notifications are pointless

Tapping on a notification should bring you directly to the listed item. It doesn’t. It just brings you to a list of items and they expect you to scroll through it and find the item yourself.

AppleTV App

Amazing app. It’s the only way I find movies to buy. My only complaint is the app for AppleTV. There’s no way to sign in so there’s no way utilize Watchlist, Custom Lists, etc.
