Never work for these scammers they made me sign up to a membership on a free, they told me it will never go up in price so I got charged 0 pounds every month for a year. then suddenly they locked me into a contract now I have to pay 500 pounds for a year contract
Getting jobs
Get a fair amount of jobs but a lot of false leads, customers do not reply to messages or answer the phone then they withdraw there job. Wastes a lot of my leads.

Took genuine effort to get this app past the signup screen, constant restarts just to get to the next slide as the done button doesn’t work, then trying to put a profile photo took effort, same thing, and creating an album of my work every photo fails to upload 😂, nothing near 20mb either, been on it 5 minutes and this is the standard

I’ve been with checkatrade since 2014 and have the highest amount of good reviews in my area. When I first joined checkatrade it was about getting the best tradesmen with high reviews and they would be shown first to potential customers.
Now it’s all changed so the more money you pay the more exposure you get so the good tradesmen don’t get shown. Every job is shown to 3 tradesmen and the customer isn’t shown the qualified and best tradesmen automatically. Checkatrade has been sold many times and lost its way and now just about squeezing as much money out of the tradesmen as possible. I’ve known a lot of local experienced tradesmen quit through the sham practices who’s been with them for many years.
Years ago you could have multiple skills listings and postcodes for nothing extra and now you get charged for each heading and postcode! You could end up paying £1000’s per month.
In 2022 I had 82 profile views in a month and 55 quality leads may 2026 I got 2 leads and they didn’t reply! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Next year I’m gone!

Private equity company only want profit
Checkatrade have been bought out several times and are now owned by a Canadian private equity company, Brookfield’s. There main goal is to create profit, get you to sign a contract, and promise you the world. I’ve been on this platform for 7 years. It’s now more expensive, for less. They will try and charge you for so many different revenues of advertising, and now also pay for leads on top of your membership fee which is 3k a year. Stay away from them, better off sign writing or paying for a optimised google search. Complete scammers now! You’ve been warned. I’ll be leaving when my contracts up for renewal used to love this platform now I hate them!
