There was a slight misunderstanding about the position of the window but it was rectified immediately. I am very happy with the finished result. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company. They are very professional and I have a 10 year guarantee. I think the price was very fair.
Checkatrade Recommended A Scam Company
Well I’m writing this as my partner is currently going through her bank to try get a refund. (We’ve also put in a complaint directly with Checkatrade). We went on checkatrade to get a patio quote. Checkatrade gave us a recommended business to take on the job. It had reviews (we now believe might be AI). A man came to our house, measured up and gave us a quote. A few weeks later we accepted the quote, they sent us invoices and documents on what would happen and then required a deposit. As you can imagine, as soon as the deposit left the account, vanished.
After realising nothing is happening we go back to Checkatrade to find they’ve removed the account but you can still see 3 negative reviews all saying the same thing.
So despite recommending us the company, they couldn’t even be arsed to have an automated message sent to the accounts they promoted this business too.

Trader favouring system
If you are a homeowner, don’t trust trader blindly just because they come through CheckaTrade. CheckaTrade guarantee has no meaning and doesn’t mean you are protected. Hence using CheckaTrade or any other website doesn’t make any difference. Trader took £1200 for a £300 worth of work done poorly and received 0 protection from CheckaTrade. I had to provide same evidence multiple times and then was relayed what trader said.

Untrustworthy men
We thought checkatrade would be safe, although that extremely backfired. They hire anyone, even people who aren’t even professionally qualified to do their jobs. Revamp roofing was the company we chose to do a small task. Required two days, although took them 5 days and a big patch in our roof. We had a disagreement, they insisted on doing more work that needed, the aim to gather more money, which we politely declined. The main guy, Joseph immediately grew restless and agitated as things didn’t go his way, don’t get me started on his different attitude towards women and men. After a dispute, he insisted we pay the full money, reminder the job was only half done. He was going to bail. We weren’t allowing that. Next day, 3 random Indian men came, I have nothing against them, but it was odd where was his normal crew? Joseph insisted they worked, which gave the home owner no choice really as he made severe threatening comments. Later on, the work was disgusting, as we refused to give them what they wanted. They began to criminal damage our house, threatening to attack us. Why are you hiring these companies checkatrader?

Pointless
You submit the job and nothing happens, no one responds to you and if they do, they act like you are a problem for them and you should feel lucky if anyone responds. Good idea but as usual people ruined it. Looks like trade people are very rich and don’t need work anymore…

AI assistant caused me a big issue
The app automatically reached out to suppliers without my permission including my current supplier. That’s going to cause a whole lot of issues.

Awful vetting procedures, very rude tradesmen, and overall bad experience every time I’ve used someone on here. Go to actually vetted professionals and safe yourself the money and hassle.

“Find Trades” button unavailable
The app is unusable. Got through poorly UX designed sign-up and login process (user has to enter emailed code every time) to find out that the “Search” (the main feature of the app) does not work. No matter what I put into the “Describe your job” field with or without attached images, the “Find trades” button remains greyed out and non-pressable.

Great idea but reliability lets it down
I downloaded the Checkatrade app to find someone for a relatively small job, but my experience has been disappointing.
The biggest issue is that many contractors seem to only want larger, higher-value jobs. Most of my requests were declined, which makes the platform feel unreliable for smaller household tasks.
I also tried the “Get an Upfront Price” option, expecting it to be more dependable because the job is assigned to a contractor. Unfortunately, the contractor cancelled on the day of the appointment, leaving me waiting at home for nothing. That was incredibly frustrating.
Another issue is that contacting Checkatrade customer support doesn’t always help because they appear to be separate from the contractor’s day-to-day service, so they often can’t explain why appointments are cancelled or why jobs are declined.
The app is a great idea in principle, but the experience hasn’t matched the promise. I think it would be much more useful if there was a contractor reliability score showing things like cancellation rates, how often they decline jobs, punctuality, and overall dependability. That would help customers choose tradespeople who are genuinely committed to taking on work rather than wasting people’s time.
Until reliability improves, I’d struggle to recommend the app for smaller jobs.

Very frustrating app
Instead of a password, this app emails you a code which expires in five minutes and which you receive after about an hour! Of course this makes it impossible to use.
Expensive and unreliable tradespeople
When hiring through Checkatrade I have found the tradespeople to be very expensive and unreliable. You’re better off looking for someone locally to you.
Cannot open the app
I have messages that I cannot see due to opening the app and it kicks me back out. Absolutely worst app ever. So many glitches and when you’re trying to access the app it keeps kicking me out. And yes I have rebooted the app and it’s still not working. Am trying to reply to trades who are getting frustrated that I cannot message them back.
