Works really well for me

First of all, I won't write two identical reviews under different names, cuz nobody does that, right? Anyway, I've used this app for years because it's one of the few that let you back out tax before calculating the tip. More important, you need only enter the total. This is great because the check isn't always broken out, but the total is always there. The only drawback is you have only one spot to record a sales tax. This is awkward if you travel a lot. But now that Catamount has finally been picked up by a new developer (very sad story there, BTW), I'm hopeful.

Unfortunate update

The new version is not an improvement in any way. The developers have transitioned to a more "flat" environment, following the styling of Apple's recent iOS, but in doing so, they have removed all of the character and depth of the original app. It now looks like something a low-level developer might come up with. The huge unused blue space at the bottom adds to the ridiculousness of the design. It's still functional, of course, but no longer unique, or special.

Now, it looks like every other Tip App. Why did you do that?

After years of using a great but abandoned app, I can only watch it go south. Here comes the developer willing to bring it into a new era, for the new operating system. The result... It now looks like every other Tip app, ending it's distinctive and amazing design that help it earn a place in the Favorite App List of many of us.
I will try to recuperate the old but great version, until you fix it cosmetically.

May not work at times.

Did not work at the restaurant but work outside of it. How you figure? It happen only once so I guess it may okay. Need to understand the calculation before you understand what you are paying.

Stick with free version

I upgraded to get rid of the ads and to support a good developer. Unfortunately, there is I bug in the paid version not in the free version.

If you attempt to enter the subtotal rather than the total, your tax rate will will revert to zero, not to your default tax rate.

This app is no longer supported by the developer. Contrary to claims in the description, he does NOT respond to support requests through his support email or bugs reported on his own forum.
