Privacy concerns

The app didn’t recognize I was driving unless I gave it full access to my precise location (which is then going to be at all times unless you remember to open and close the app every time you drive). I don’t see any reason why it has to be precise location (vs. approximate, which is also an option).

Response from developer

I understand your concern. However, as stated in the app description on the App Store, the app DOES NOT collect any data. Location is the only approved mechanism allowed by Apple to trigger app launch locally on the device to get motion data, which is used solely to determine driving state.

Zero notifications

I have yet to receive a single notification for the app. I have my location turned on all the time, and all the notifications settings on. It does not work at at all.

Edit 10/15: I just checked, and the slider for motion and fitness it turned on. I have ever setting turned on. It still does not work.

Response from developer

I am sorry that you are having trouble with the app. It sounds like Motion & Fitness is not set to ON for ChecktheBack!. Please toggle Motion & Fitness to ON for the app. It requires all of its settings in order to function properly. Edit: 10/16 Again, I am sorry you are having trouble with the app. This is the first time this has happened - what version of iOS are you running? Have you tried to delete and reinstall it? Please give this a try and re-establish the settings at initial start of the app. Please let me know if this corrects the problem.

Wonderful idea for an app!

This app works great and addresses the ongoing issue of children being left unattended. Very beneficial for babysitters or anyone in child care.

Great idea, but needs maintenance

App works sometimes and alert will go off at random times hours after car stops. Is there a way to set to go off when phone disconnects from car Bluetooth?

Better than nothing

It works reasonably well but there are a few quirks:

1. The photo doesn’t appear during setup, only after you restart the app (minor but initially confusing)

2. It is a bit inconsistent (it doesn’t always trigger after a car trip)

3. It is annoying that there is no way to prevent either of the two alerts (IMO when we open the app there should be a button to say « ok I checked », so that we can preventively disable the alerts after stopping the car, or disable the 2nd alert after the first one)

I hope it will get improved in the future!
