About

Learn chess notation by playing through real games, racing the clock, recognizing board squares faster, practicing piece movement, and rebuilding positions from memory. ChessNotation is built for players who want to read, write, and recognize standard algebraic notation more confidently. Each notation training session presents a real position and asks you to enter the correct move in SAN using a dedicated chess notation keyboard. You get immediate feedback, can reveal answers when needed, and can review your results as you improve. Version 3.0.1 expands ChessNotation into a broader board-vision trainer. Home is now organized into four focused families: Notation Training, Timed Training, Board Skills, and Position Recall. Board Skills groups Square Recognition and Piece Movement drills, while Position Recall adds reconstruction practice after a timed study phase. This release also strengthens responsive layouts, accessibility, bundled-game validation, local history resilience, and external-keyboard support while keeping all training data local to the device. Features: - Practice standard algebraic notation move by move - Replay real chess games from curated collections - Enter moves with a custom chess notation keyboard - Race the clock in timed notation sessions - Practice square recognition with focused coordinate drills - Practice piece movement by selecting legal geometric destination squares - Practice position recall by reconstructing hidden pieces after a study interval - Use themed mini-game boards that follow your board-style and coordinate settings - Get instant answer validation and feedback - View board positions and game thumbnails for real move sequences - See stored current-position engine evaluations for added context when evaluated games provide them - Track notation, timed notation, square recognition, piece movement, and position-recall progress locally where supported - Keep training data local to the device with no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking, cloud sync, or remote networking - Use external keyboard commands for supported answer entry, submit, reveal, next, and finish actions - Use accessibility-friendly board-square labels, non-color-only state cues, Dynamic Type-compatible layouts, and Reduce Motion-aware feedback - Review accuracy, first-try rate, completion, pace, score, latency, and weak move-tag trends - Filter history by today, last week, last month, or last year where available - Tap trend charts to reveal readable data-point values - Filter games by difficulty and opening - Customize board coordinates, evaluation visibility, and visual board themes - Use a responsive premium interface with normalized artwork across iPhone and iPad ChessNotation is designed for learners, improvers, and chess players who want a clean, focused way to study notation, build board awareness, and get faster with real chess language.
