Chessbook not working
Chessbook not working, and we don’t see any support helpline, please check and share if there were any issues with the latest release yesterday.
What happened to this app?
The recent updates have made this app so much worse to use. When you go too deep in a line, it no longer shows stockfish suggestions. Even if you play the move on the board, there is no evaluation.
It will often say “clear best move” when the move is even with, or WORSE than the best move. Often, moves are marked mistakes that are literally the best move in the position. And even the stockfish suggestions are wrong. It will show one move that wins and three or four options that lose, but if you open the Lichess analysis, there are several moves that keep the advantage.
I love this app but I hope they fix it soon.

Low friction for keeping a repertoire
I have tried to keep studies in Lichess for my repertoire, but have struggled to keep up with it. Chessbook makes it easy. After any game I can effortlessly update and improve my repertoire. Love it!
Best repetition practice
I usually would hate on apps but this game teaches you what to look out for in opening game practice. Try it out
Please add streak widget
Chess.com allows you to add a widget so that you can easily see what day your streak is at and it serves as a reminder as well to actually open the app and extend your streak so you keep learning. I think your app should add that as well, it has helped me keep a streak on chess.com and Duolingo for over 200 days but I keep losing my streak with this app I think because there is no widget on my home screen serving as an easy reminder. Great app otherwise though

If you try to learn an opening or whatever usually people or apps teach different moves but this is always the moves you want

Amazing for memorizing openings, it helped me go from losing with black to winning almost every game in my elo pool.
+1000 ELO after downloading Chessbook!!
Like the title suggests, My ELO has risen by 1000 after getting this app! The opening repertoire builder is the main attraction, but don’t sleep on the master games. Good opening muscle memory is important but those master games really help you see what kind of ideas you should be looking for in the middle game and end game.
A five star is more than fair but I still do have some requests to make this app more useful long term, even after Ive locked in opening theory.
These are my requests:
1. a way to drill the “how to play from here” suggestion when you reach your coverage goal for each line. Instead of practicing individual moves, the goal would be to memorize the key concepts from those suggestions. Sure I could do that with flash cards but to be able to do the whole thing in the app would be very helpful.
2. I’d like to be able to nickname all my opening lines using the annotations in the builder, and to be able to associate entire master games with those specific lines—a way to save snippets and assign them to my opening line would help too!! Then when I play through a master game, or practice, I can choose to hide or show the name of the line that I’ve created.
Since using Chessbook, I’ve improved massively since I’m usually able to build an opening advantage. However, a common trend is that I tend to lose that advantage in the middle game because that’s where the muscle memory ends and sound ideas have to begin. If I also can build an arsenal of ideas to supplement my opening knowledge, this app will allow me to go even higher and keep me from plateauing.
Regardless, thank you to the devs for this great product!

Genuinely a MUST HAVE for all Chess players!
This app has helped me improve and learn so many openings. It’s very simple and it can be used by anyone of any elo. There are many pre-made repertoires to choose from and you can create your own or expand on ones that you already know.

I am very impressed by Chessbook. I use Chessable courses for my openings but now that I am using Chessbook I actually have a workable repertoire. It is just brilliant that you base (and grow) your repertoire on what you actually see in your games. I also really like the daily guess the move games that fit your openings. And the feature where it tells you where you made mistakes in your openings. Just super well thought out and useful.

Fantastic app to learn openings, but it’s best to have the subscription - but it’s totally worth it.
