What's New in ChessMem
3.0
July 26, 2026
The main new feature (AI move demonstrations) requires an internet connection and a signed-in account. There are no changes to the sign-in mechanism, subscription plans, or in-app purchases. What changed in 3.0.0: - AI move demonstrations: during practice, the ?! button generates a plain-language explanation of the selected move and animates it on the board with arrows, highlights, and short previews; at the end of a prepared line it suggests likely continuations. Requires an internet connection and a signed-in account. - Play-as-colour choices (which side an opening is practised from) now sync across a signed-in user's devices. - Offbeat, low-data openings are grouped under a new "Curiosities" section at the end of the openings list to reduce clutter; they remain fully playable. - Opening and line counts are now consistent across the picker, progress bar, and practice rotation, and "Everything" on the depth slider now includes every line of large merged openings (e.g. Queen's Gambit shows all 1022 lines). - Various practice and display fixes: corrected practice rotation, more accurate slider readouts, and mobile layout adjustments for the AI panel. - Internal changes only; no changes to the chess content database. To review the main change: sign in, select any opening (e.g. Italian Game), tap Play White or Play Black, make a move, then tap the ?! button below the board - the board animates an explanation of that move. Sign-in is required only for AI explanations and cross-device sync; practice otherwise works signed-out. Demo account credentials are provided in the App Store Connect sign-in fields as before. IN-APP PURCHASES (NO CHANGES IN THIS BUILD) - No IAP code, products or behaviour changed in this version. Subscription prices were updated in App Store Connect on 7 July 2026 (monthly £3.99, annual £29.99); existing subscribers retain their original price. The app reads all prices from StoreKit, so no build change was involved. • Monthly subscription: com.chessmem.app.premium_monthly (7-day free trial, then auto-renews) • Annual subscription: com.chessmem.app.premium_annual (7-day free trial, then auto-renews) • Lifetime, one-time non-consumable: com.chessmem.app.premium_lifetime - The paywall appears on first launch for non-subscribed users, via Settings → Subscribe, or on reaching the free daily practice limit (5/day). It shows price, billing period, free-trial length, auto-renew terms (or one-time-purchase terms for Lifetime), and links to Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. "Restore Purchases" restores prior purchases. TESTING PREMIUM - Sign in with the demo account (credentials supplied in the fields above). It has admin-granted premium (no purchase required) to verify premium features: unlimited daily practice and full Game Analysis. ACCOUNT / SIGN-IN - No account is required to use the app or to reach the paywall. - Sign-in (Apple / Google / email) is optional and only used to sync progress across devices and with the web app (chessmem.com).
