Not user friendly at all
Badly needs some enhancements
Excellent
Can you include traditional notation as option ?
A great free app but room for small improvement
The app is well designed but I would like it if they could make an algebraic notation (simplified, as an alternative option). An other suggestion would be to add an option where we could found an opening by playing it on a board. (Tree)

Stunning
Best app going just wish when you complete the opening it didn’t throw you back to the start, if it was an optional button to click reset then we can study the opening position for longer, other than that, and wanting some more theory information presented with the openings ( but that’s ambiguous) i love it

Amazing but…
Love this app a lot, but there’s a glitch, and if you are on the black side, and you pull up an opening with only 1 move, it’ll repeat infinitely. Please hope you can fix this, it’s really annoying.
Great app
Been using for around an hour and it is completely free. Got all the openings i think defo 500+ and all accessible without data, got a 5hour plane ride home and i can get a bit of practice in, thank you to the developer!

Good app, not so user friendly
I would love this app if there were a back button to look at the opening I just did.
Good, could be great
Pros: Repetition, good amount of openings and variations, highlights incorrect moves on order.
Cons: the long notation feels dated, and clunky. Missing some main openings, would love turn off sound when ringer is on, and cosmetic piece and board changes would be great.
Would pay a couple of bucks for these benefits. Thank you for the time put into this app. It’s great and helped me move from 1320s into low 1400s.

I thought I would drop you a line to let you know excellent app but there is no way to contact you for support. You have an opening listed under B14 as Nimzo Indian defence panov attack main line It should be Caro-Kann panov attack main line
Wish it was in Algebraic Notation..Nf3 instead of g1f3
Very difficult to read the notation. I wish it were in the standard algebraic notation. Example:
1.d4 d5 2.c4 e5 3.e3 Bb4+ 4.Nd2 exd4 5.exd4 dxc4 6.Bxc4 Qxd4 7.a3 Ba5 8.Qa4+ Nc6 9.Nf3 Qf6 10.O-O Bd7 11.Ne4 Qe7 12.Re1 Bxe1 13.Nxe1 Nd4 14.Bg5 f6 15.Bf4 Bxa4 16.b3 Bxb3 17.Bd3 Nc2 18.Nxc2 O-O-O 19.Re1 Rxd3 20.Nb4 Rd4 21.Be3 Rxe4 22.Nd5 Bxd5 23.f3 Rxe3 24.Rxe3 Qxe3+ 25.Kf1 Bc4#

I think it needs an update
Hi ! I like this app a lot, it’s an awesome tool for practicing and memorizing openings through repetition. But ive been checking some of those openings with stockfish and lichess database, it seems like some of those lines have outdated moves in them. For example in kings gambit there’s this line in the app : e4 e5 f4 f5 exf5 exf4 Qh5+ g6 fxg6 Qe7+ and here it says to play Kd1, but the best move is actually Be2. Im just wondering if these are old theory lines ?
Also the notation system is weird: for 1.e4 Nf6 the notation is : e2e4 g8f6
Thanks for reading me !

Nice app
👍
Amazing app
Makes chess practice easy and efficient!
Moves not in algebraic notation
Would have been much better to see “Nf3” instead of “g1f3”. Also, the “number of moves” slider falls outside of the screen area on an iPhone, reducing usability. (This does not happen on an iPad since the aspect ratio is different.). But this is a free app after all.
Great idea
I always wanted an app like this. It has all the openings laid out and organized. This app just needs better UI and it would be perfect.
Awesome
Absolutely great free app. Helps to learn the openings quickly.
I’ve got some more ideas if you would like to continue developing it:
- option to hide lines, such that you need to play from your mind only
- option for short notation, instead of “e2e4” only state “e4”. I am not used to this long notation
If you feel like you have endless time, you could add some repetition feature like in Anki, where the app will let you repeat failed lines more often than succeeded lines.
Thanks for sharing this app!

I’ve Been Searching For An App Like This
Excellent app for learning openings! The only problem is that it seems to be lacking several important openings, like the London System and the Stonewall Defense. The developers could fix this by either adding all the openings, or by allowing users to practice openings they enter the move for themselves.

Nice app
Nicely done. Have just begun to use it but it seems to have quite a few openings and variations. Like that it highlights the right move if you hit the wrong piece. However, it really needs to have the option of algebraic notation.
