A delight for the diaspora

I've been checking on the official tribal government of Chlksa's descendants for a few years now. I remember discussions around my grandmother's kitchen table; stories of Aunt Pyrle, of thr same generation as my Grandmother Nellie Jeannette, who always wanted music played for dinner but died just before the invention of the radio, my Uncles, Dean and Jim with their tales of the Chickasaw people chasing Hernando de Soto down the Mississippi, and tales of the hardships of those who went to Oklahoma and how the government, after the civil war gave
Chickasaw land not to the descendants of African slaves who had lived as tribal members for many generations, but to freed plantation slaves formerly owned by Whites. My mother's side of the family left with her Welsh husband to Indiana before removal. As a semi-assimilated mostly Celtic individual, I need to hear of the successes of those who were enrolled, and able to keep a tribal association alive. The progress in all areas, business, education and culture are alive to me here on the west coast only through the "Chickasaw Times" and I'm grateful to receive it on my iPad. Thank you and keep up the good work.
