So I spent $2 on the classic mode thinking, it’ll bring back the old version but nope, I got scammed and before then, I had classic mode already. But still great game though.

Not The Original
The game is not like the original. Instead, there is a lame program progression that is annoying and it made me lose interest really quickly.

I am so disappointed this is absolutely nothing like the original game. I even paid for the “classic” version but it is not like the one I love with the timer and the 3 minute quick play, there’s no timer at all. I’m sure if you never played the original this is an ok game but if you love the one from Blockdot you’re probably going to be disappointed like me.

Silence mode
When the game is on silent , when u pass a level the volume turns on and you have to open options and unmute and remute to silence the game

this is my favorite game of all time!! i literally used to be so obsessed with this when i was younger. i always checked periodically in hopes it’d be here and i was so relieved to see it’s back!! i’ve never even left a review before but i’m just so happy, i had to! thank you so so much!!
if you guys could just PLEASE make it compatible with bluetooth keyboards that’d be so amazing! 🤞 and also maybe have an option to turn the music off but keep the other sounds like the clucks? i would be eternally grateful 🧎♀️
edit: i’ve noticed my progress isn’t consistent between my phone and ipad. that would also be helpful to just pick up where you left off regardless of device!

Finally!
So glad that this game is back. The only thing that I miss are the cool and crazy chicken clucks and other sounds from the original version. Bring back the CLUCKS!

A once great game ruined by modern greed
Another ridiculous cash grab game where you get a tiny amount of energy so you can only play for a few minutes. Used to play this all the time many years ago. This version stinks.
Long Awaited Return
I used to play this on my mom’s iPhone 3 and LOVED it! I looked for it some years later and found that it had disappeared from the App Store! I eventually discovered that it was taken off of Apple’s selection of apps but was still on Android. I was hoping it would eventually return to Apple, and I’m so happy it did! It’s just as fun as I remember, with some added sweet nostalgia. Can’t recommend enough. You can’t go wrong with chickens or word puzzles. Also, it’s refreshing to see a NON-SUBSCRIPTION BASED app on the App Store! Payments are optional to play, of course. They just make it more fun when you have $2 to spare, haha.

A Chickentastic Word Game
Apparently this is an older favorite game among fans but I had not played it until now. Still, I can see why it was a favorite because I’m having tons of fun playing the game so far. I have always loved word games so much and this one is up there among the best in my opinion.
I like the cute aesthetics and sound design, it offers lots of features and upgrades it seems and overall as a word game it just hits the right mark in my opinion.
I also really appreciate how you can unlock the extra bonus characters that give you, well, bonuses in the game. Haha. The game does seem to not a have a few words which I thought were pretty standard. But I didn’t find that to be very severe and it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of Chicktionary (great wordplay for the game’s title 😉.). I made the in-app purchase for no advertisements and found that to be a pretty reasonable price and I was very grateful and glad it was offered. Thank you for that option.

Not really back
If you’re looking for the classic experience, it won’t be at the classic price. The costs are $2 to unlock the “Classic” mode, plus another $3 for Ad Free + unlimited energy. I did not pay as I don’t want to reward misleading advertising.
The parts I enjoyed most about the original game were the chicken themed puzzle (no surprise) and the quiet chicken clucking while thinking about my next word. The revamp has super upbeat music that overwhelms the sounds the chickens make, and the chicken sounds seem a lot more cartoony if anything. These in addition to the change in normal gameplay type show that it’s a serviceable game, but it has no interest in actually returning to its roots.
When I tried to get a more classic feeling by changing my settings, the **settings** menu options were Twitter, leaderboards, Facebook, restore purchases, Help, toggle global audio, and toggle notifications. Socials/leaderboards are not settings and belong in a different context. These decisions and others like them show a clear intent to misuse an old name, get popular using inappropriate means, and make money off of nostalgia.
Changes I would suggest making: remove the non-settings items from the settings menu. Sound settings should at minimum allow a toggle mute music and SFX separately, and ideally would provide a volume slider for each. Make the classic mode free and the new levels/adventure mode paid, or make classic mode free and bump the cost of no-ads to $5. Add an option for legacy sounds.

The best anagram game ever. I couldn’t wait for it to be back and accessible after it disappeared for a while and wasn’t available on the latest devices. Love this game

I missed playing this game so much, way better than Wordscapes (but I still like Word Search of course). I remember playing this old computer game in the 2000s decade, this is definitely in my childhood. I remember the days playing Fowl Words from Primary Games in Technology Class. I definitely recommend this game for those who have the misfortune of playing games like Word Cookies.
