About
Chirp Live names the birds singing around you. Tap the microphone and it listens: every few seconds it checks the last three seconds of sound and shows which birds it hears, and how sure it is.
It works on your iPhone, with no account and no signal needed. Identification uses BirdNET, from the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Chemnitz University of Technology, which knows over 6,000 species. If you allow location, Chirp Live narrows the list to birds found where you are at that time of year.
WHAT YOU GET
• A live list of the birds you hear, with the one singing now at the top
• A summary after each walk: species, calls, which birds are new to you, and the best clip of each to play back
• Every session saved on your iPhone with its sound, the place and the GPS coordinates
• Share a session's bird list
• Choose how sure it should be before a bird counts
WITH A CHIRP SITE (OPTIONAL)
If you already use Chirp, the home bird-monitoring system, sign in to your site. Sessions are saved there too, your site gives a second opinion on each bird, and you can listen through your Chirp stations from anywhere: you hear the yard while your iPhone names the birds.
PRIVACY
Sound is analyzed on your iPhone. Nothing you record is sent anywhere unless you sign in to a Chirp site. No ads, no tracking, and no account needed.
