I’ve had this app for years, I can easily say it’s one of my favourites.
While yes paying for certain scenes and outfits can be quite costly. It doesn’t really have much impact. The only thing I wish would stay is the outfits you pay in the stories. I would love to be able to use them in other story’s.

Downgrade
Been playing for years. Loved the stories. Freshman series. Queen B. The crown and the flame. Very good books. Now the new book quality has been getting worse. What used to be max 16 chapters a book is now 6 chapters. I dislike how small the chapters are. How expensive the choices are. And lack of characters?? What happened to multiple Love Interests?? I think it’s not long before I cancel my membership

Choices ! Sneaky way to avoid paying out rewards!!
I love this App and the stories are great however I’ve noticed something sneaky lately with some of their new books and the rewards for finishing a book for the first time. Apparently you can’t collect the 15 diamond reward if you didn’t read 15 or 16 chapters to finish the book.. even though the reward doesn’t say that.. it’s true.
I read a book called Promise of Forever.. it has 2 books and the second one is a continuation of the first that ended on a cliff hanger. Both books are 4 chapters each and the second one wraps up the story. No reward comes for finishing these books. I find it sneaky that they did this as it appears they are trying to keep us from getting rewards from new books. If that’s the case then they need to change the reward description or give us the reward for finishing a book for the first time as the reward states.

AI Slop
Very disappointed in the direction this app is going. I used to spend so much time and money on this app because it had better storylines and art styles than its competitors. I fell in love with the og stories like the Freshman and I would go back and replay them over and over again. I admit I felt like the quality of the writing has been steadily going down for the past couple of years as they focused more and more on romance-centered stories and less on other genres. I didn’t even hold it against them. I’m sure that’s where the money was. But I recently logged in to check for updates on series and was excited to see that the It Follows series had a new sequel. I enjoyed the first two immensely. Only to be redirected to another website where the story comprised completely of AI generated content. I am disgusted by the lack of creativity. I am deleting the app after being a long time customer for years. It’s truly the end of an era.

Disappointed
Choices has faced a rapid decline after beginning the use of Ai, we can see it in the horrible face models, awful character lines, and blurry backgrounds. I would once come back to this app every two hours to use my next key, now i find myself deleted the app as soon as I install it, always hoping it’s gotten better. You’d think after introducing VIP there’d be an incentive and profit for producing better material yet everything pre VIP is far superior to the slop that is made now. To anyone wanting to buy VIP, save your money don’t pay for negligence, sincerely someone that’s read more than 1000 chapters.

A Heartbreak
I have been playing this game since I started college in 2017, and the past few years the app has become butchered. So many stories on here have really meant a lot to me, thats the only reason the app is still on my phone, to revisit what used to be but its hard to see what its become. Almost every story has these ai avatars that turn into a new person every time they change expression in this horrific to watch morphing. I used to admite the backgrounds for several minutes when theres a new one or I see an old favorite, but now I regularly cringe at the slop they put behind the text now. I loved the Crimes Of Passion series but I havent finished the latest release because a lot of it is unpleasent to look at. My favorite was the It Lives Anthology for the art, the details, the clear heart that went into it and when I saw the new ai video story for it I havent been able yo really open or look at the app for months. Like putting aside any moral qualms about ai, its terrible quality. No more new art, these bizarre shiny animations, the awkward flat soulless voice. It was heartbreaking to see one of my favorite stories, one that has had such a deep impact on my own creative indeavors be turned into this terrible stilted lifeless slop. Honestly its been one hell of a decade but I think its time I put my love for this game aside since there is no sign of it ever getting better again.

Downfall
It’s really unfortunate that this app has gone down hill. Starting stories then completely trashing the project because of layoffs is ridiculous. Using AI instead of original creators that built up your app is disappointing. As I’ve gone through recent reviews I have seen the same things. Decline in quality, increase in quantity, and decline in acknowledgement to the issues with their app. The copy and paste responses to negative reviews is also how you lose participants. We are looking for progress and to see that our concerns are being heard. This is just like the downfall of Lovestruck.

Don’t waste your time and money on the new stories…
VIP member for years. Used to love this app, and waited for new chapters to drop like clockwork.
Now the writing and artwork are AI generated and the stories are ridiculously expensive. Instead of your choices mattering, and influencing the outcome of your story behind the scenes, you get two choices now: right or wrong. You pay to make the correct choice, or you don’t and your story is impacted.
There’s no depth or quality to the stories anymore. You instead spend, easily, 200 -300 diamonds - assuming you want all the correct dialogue choices, special outfits and scenes - within the first 6 chapters.
Oh, and after that, they’ll probably end the book mid-story.
That’s right. No development. No climax. No conclusion. No romantic payoff. Not even an effort to quickly wrap everything up in the last chapter.
You’ll literally be in the middle of your story and suddenly you get a generic message at the end of the chapter and you’re prompted to end the book with no warning. So, you spend all those diamonds, time, and money, and they don’t even give you any sort of payoff.
Even if they do decide to end the story…the quality isn’t much better. Everything is generic, bland, soulless. They rely heavily on overpriced outfits and overwhelming amounts of 18+ content that isn’t even that good.
Seriously, you’re better off reading a Wattpad fanfiction about a cyborg vampire love triangle.
For all the money they’re expecting you to spend, you’ll get more bang for your buck playing Baldur’s Gate 3, getting a Kindle subscription, or investing in a really good book at B&N. At least the stories have endings and you don’t have to pay to turn the page.

Unplayable
I played for 9 years and loved the earlier stories. I hung in there when books got shorter and plot lines got messier, but it’s past the point I can tolerate. Even the supposedly traditional newer books reek of AI slop with plot holes and repetitive dialogue. I wish this were still a human-driven company bursting with dedicated and creative staff, but the layoffs and money grab have made it a shell of its former glory. Cancelled my VIP and no longer play.

uncanny art and terrible stories
very boring now with ai art and cashgrab books, so sad to see something ive been playing since release to decline this much.
Lost its effort and charm
Had this app for so long and completed so many of the stories. The stories themselves used to be so engaging and so much effort and care was put into each. I used to go replay them all they were that good.
The new stories lately show no effort at all. They are all so short too with only 7/8 chapters. By the time you get invested it’s done. Don’t know where all the effort and care has gone.
As a guy one issue I’ve always had and raised with support is that a number of the stories are female based. I’ve not seen a single story that was restricted to a male only character. Find that to be extremely unfair and sexist.
Honestly the developers need to really assess the direction they’ve gone in as it isn’t working and you’re going to lose all your committed users.

Cliffhangers
I have been a loyal user of the Choices app since it started in 2016. I have read and enjoyed so many great books on this app. I know there are people who complain about the changes, but honestly, I don’t mind them. It doesn’t bother me that the art styles have changed, or that we are getting smaller books instead of the usual 16 chapter books. What does frustrate me is the fact that TWO DIFFERENT BOOKS have now ended in a cliffhanger with no indication that we will get any closure to those stories. First Scream for Me and now Breaking Ice. It honestly makes me not want to read any new books that y’all put out in the future because what confidence do I have that they will have endings that actually complete the story. Why would I spend money on diamonds for those books?

Changes
Part of what attracted me to this app was that even without paying for certain choices you were able to still play the story. Now there have been changes that now you’re paying for more choices. The choices are already expensive not to mention we already only get 2 diamonds for every story we read unless we’re VIP. Then add on that we can only get 10 free diamonds a day in addition to how much buying diamonds costs it doesn’t seem worth it to read anything on here. Instead of ways to make the game more fun for users it seems like the game is only coming up with ways to squeeze more money out of the users.

This Rise and Fall of this App Needs to be Studied
I've been an on and off again fan for awhile, and the way this app nosedived since 2024 requires an extensive nosedive due to all the behind the scenes mistakes and errors that are present in the current output.
Modern art assets are completely AI generated and were never given a second look through, which is made evident due to the parent company (Slop-- sorry, Series Entertainment) and the original creators (Pixelberry) going through many, many layoffs. Modern updates consist of begging the player to go to Series' run.tv app which is completely AI generated, and consists of both slop and slop made out of beloved titles on Choices before Pixelberry's acquisition.

This is BAD now
No one likes the AI and clear cash grabbing. It’s becoming increasingly hard to get diamonds because the 100 ads have been dropped to 10 ads a day, you only get the 15 diamonds for the first time you complete a story instead of every time you complete it now, there’s been no events to get diamonds (at least the last couple months I played for), no free passes to read a story without keys, it’s all obvious cash grabbing and manipulating people to pay money for diamonds and keys. I, and most others i talk to about choices, don’t enjoy playing new stories because it’s such a chore to play when spending 15-30 diamonds multiple times a chapter to barely get any back ever. The AI sprites are ugly as well, and everywhere I look, people are complaining about them. It’s lazy and makes the quality of the game so much worse.

I had played Choices for years, since it had maybe a dozen of stories in total. I have spent far too much money on it over the years, but I always felt that it was worth it because the stories were always so enjoyable.
Over the past year or two, the entirety of the platform has become AI slop. It started with AI art covers, and then became unintelligible continuations of stories that had been abandoned years ago.
If you do not have concerns with the ethics of AI use as I do, you will still be disappointed because the stories created with it are god-awful.
Choices is now only enjoyable in as much as you can go back and experience the stories from before the influx of AI garbage.
