Fun and Helpful
This game is second-level interval training—making you hear the root movements of chords in context to the other tones of the chords—plus chord quality recognition. So if you’ve gotten fairly good with single tone, melodic, interval training, this game would be a good next step.
Trying to get onto the leaderboard is fun. Unfortunately it’s easy to cheat, because the player isn’t penalized by hitting a wrong answer except for taking more time to do it. Out of curiosity, I once tried to purely guess each answer as fast as I could, got about 15 wrong, and still got a score in the 8 millions, putting me at the top of the weekly leaderboard. I hope there will be an update which disallows admission to the leaderboard if the player gets one wrong answer. That would practically guarantee fairness. (But, I don’t think anyone else has cheated, so it’s not really a big deal.)
Anyway, it’s a fun game which exercises your aural skills. I play it more often than I thought I would, and it has helped my ear-training skills, so it gets five stars.
