Wie der Name schon sagt…
…ist es ein Akkord-„Roulette“, das innerhalb der gegebenen Parameter (Vielstimmigkeit, Oktavlage…) jeder eingehenden MIDI-Note jeweils einen Akkord zuordnet.
Im Zentrum steht dabei NICHT die Nachvollziehbarkeit der Zuordnung (deswegen ja „Roulette“), sondern dass aufeinanderfolgende Klänge angenehme, also nicht zu langweilige und nicht zu krasse, Kontraste bilden. Das ist, finde ich, super gelungen.
Wer Hilfe beim Songwriting und manuelle Unterstützung beim Akkordespielen erwartet, wird hier möglicherweise verwirrt und probiert es lieber mit Chordjam, Progressions oder Scaler.
Wer aber eine App sucht, die in einem generativen Kontext eigenständig Akkordfolgen produziert, welche interessant, aber nicht total absurd klingen, wird hier bedient.
Die Zuordnung von MIDI-Note und Akkord scheint mir reproduzierbar mit der Wahl der Parameter verknüpft zu sein. Die erzeugte Akkordfolge ist also nur in dem Maße zufällig, wie es die eingehenden MIDI-Noten und ggf. CC-Befehle für die Parameter sind. Die Zufälligkeit muss und kann man also von außen steuern, deswegen habe ich das „Roulette“ oben in Anführungszeichen gesetzt. Falls ich das falsch verstanden habe, bitte ich um Korrektur. Ganz unwichtig ist diese Frage ja nicht, falls man eine einmal gefundene kreative Lösung reproduzierbar machen will.
Ich verwende Chord Roulette in AUM. Zufällige MIDI-Noten für nichtrepetitive Akkordfolgen erzeuge ich mit Xynthesizr. Die Basstöne extrahiere ich mit ArpBud. Der Rest hängt dann vom gewünschten Musikstil ab.
Ich habe ein bisschen gebraucht, um das Konzept zu verstehen, aber jetzt finde ich die App super. Klein, fein, sorgfältig gemacht. Hält, was sie verspricht.

Leider gibt es keine Dokumentation und wird es wahrscheinlich auch nicht geben, da sich diese Anwendung in erster Linie auf generative Musik konzentriert.

This app is exceptionally productive . Hook it up to synth and a midi capture app such as helium and you are 99% on the way to producing a selection of interesting, often inspiring chord sequences for your compositions…It’s so fun to use and you need on finger …👏👏😃🎶🙏🏿🙏

A world of surprises
The developer has put together something really special here. Sometimes straightforward chords, sometimes seems to turn the keyboard inside out - it’s hilarious and fascinating - and sometimes like playing in response to a fine musician, right there in the room. The banks are fabulous. The banks names give something away about the thought that is going into this. Instant fan.

Awesome AU Midi Chord FX
This is a great little AU Midi Chord fx that allows you to easily create complex chords from 1 note. Set your scale, number of notes, even add some randomness, and velocity. Hello. Looks like GarageBand don’t support auv3 midi effects extensions. ChordBank works well in another AUv3 hosts, like Drambo or AUM in example.
Free as a bird!
In this troubled world it is nice to find altruism. ChordBank is one such example, being both free and useful. The developer is keen to correct any teething problems, thus proving that when it comes around to paid apps he can be trusted to care. In the meantime, this is a useful bit of kit that can enhance any mix. Recommended.
