This used to be a great app, until Yamaha nerfed it recently!

The previous version of Yamaha Chord Tracker allowed a device’s microphone to listen to music in real-time and identified the notes/chords being heard, even allowing for capo adjustments to see how best to play a song. Their most recent update removed this feature, so now it is only useful to identify songs you own, loaded into the app in MP3/4 format, although some users are reporting they can’t even get this feature to work now. Super disappointing, Yamaha, please bring back the chord identifier/analysis functionality, if you are indeed truly interested in helping guitar players improve their playing skills! Right now, I’m considering deleting this app to make space for better and more useful ones.

Disappointing!

I just downloaded this app with some hope to be able to hear the different instruments on selected songs. I understand copyright but the selection of songs that popped up was short of nothing. And those that did pop-up would not even play. Very disappointed in this app. Not even worth it being in the App Store.

Not possible to load local files

I have several audio files on my iPad I wanted to transcribe, but there is no easy way to load them. This app only supports loading from DropBox or Music collection. Other apps support loading local files. In my opinion all Yamaha products have terrible user interface, either hardware or software.

Doesn’t Work

App doesn’t see the hundreds of MP3’s on my device. Useless. Just wants to collect song data and nothing in its user materials or manual describes use of Dropbox, which is apparently the only way you can x-fer music to the app. Lame.

Can't load music from local files

Why can't I load music from my files except Apple Music?
You guys should copy from Chord AI!!

Sandbox, please in files app

Hi, i love Yamaha Chord Tracker app, but there is only one thing is left: there is not a folder on FILES APP, where i would able to save songs from safari and use on Yamaha Chord Tracker app

Ayuda y soporte

Garbage

Connects to Dropbox somehow…yet doesn’t tell you what folder and shows no songs. Can’t record anything because it needs to connect to a Yamaha device apparently…

Playback timing out of sync on iPad Pro

Something is wrong with the app on iPad Pro m1. The audio gets ahead of the score by up to two measures over the course of a pop song.
Try Billy Joel uptown girl from iTunes library and you’ll see

The only app that can correctly recognize some J-pop chords

I have tried a lot of different other similar apps, but only this Yamaha app can correctly distinguish between Bm7b5 and G7/B, between GM7/F and F, F/G and G7. I strongly recommend this app for recognizing J-pop chords.

It would be better if we can have a PC version or Web version, because importing through Dropbox is very inconvenient.

Cool app

I’m really enjoying this app

Simple and Functional

The simplest route to learning a song. It just works. Tune the guitar up, chords get you n the right place most of the time, and picking up melody/harmony patterns is intuitive after that. Slowing a song produces artifacts but that doesn’t take away from learning. I find myself using it to learn bass parts. Makes learning death/prog metal guitar parts much easier when 70-80% of the tempo.

Not useful

I purchased this app so I could easily translate my original music on my phone to show chords. It does not tell you before purchase that the only songs you can transcribe are song that are in your iPhone “music” app. There is no way that I have found to transfer songs from my phone files into the app. Completely useless to me. Can I get a refund??

Amazing Free App

Fantastically useful app to learn to play chords by allowing you to play along with songs on your phone. Also the ability to slow the tempo of the song without changing its pitch is very helpful it learning a song. Truly unbelievable that this app is free. Thank you Yamaha!!

Best engine, needs print or export as PDF option

Please throw in a print option for the generated chores!

Very Cool 😎

I honestly don’t get all the complaints this app is getting. The UI is great, with customization as well, the features it has are very helpful and it is also precise with its track sync! 🤷‍♂️
What else do want from a free app?

Wow

Works nicely. Can’t figure out why only 2 songs are displaying from library

5 star

This is my favorite app as a worship leader.
