Easy to setup and use

Beautiful and seamless video player for digital libraries!

Really good!

All I wanted was an app where I could watch my mkv movie collection in a virtual cinema and this is that app. My only small gripe is the Spatial Audio doesn’t have head tracking and some of my movies won’t play. But overall this is the best app if you want to feel like you’re in a theater.

Great app (with one piece of feedback)

This is the only app that I found able to play my Plex library in a theater environment. It works great! One piece of feedback for the developer, when you move to another seat in the theater the animation is a bit nauseating. I’d like the ability to just teleport to the seat. Thanks for making such a great app.

New feature advice

One of the most important new features is the complete environment elements in a real cinema (such as people sitting in the seats, people talking and even some noise), with which you would feel you were really there and not alone and isolated. It is even better if you could invite your friends sitting beside you and watching the same movie.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. The rows will be adjusted as I agree with your statements. I think the custom seat picker idea is awesome, and have noted that feedback.

Fails to connect and doesn’t show an error

Tried to connect to my Plex server. Authenticated successfully, saw a loading screen, then the app showed the initial screen. No error message.

Response from developer

Hi Jonathan, I am sorry you had issues connecting. Were you connected to a VPN at the time? I have seen issues related to that. Feel free to email or contact me via the feedback form and I would be happy to help.

Truly immersive, and even plays MV-HEVC!

This app is a great way to watch my Plex content in an immersive environment. Works great on airplanes. I especially like that I can watch my converted 3-D films using MV-HEVC!

Response from developer

I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Broken app

This app is broken. Doesn’t allow me to login. After successful login attempt, the app just goes back to the splash screen. Don’t buy this app until basic functionality is working.

Hey StefCre4343, Feel free to send me an email or use the contact form on the site to reach out so I can ensure you are able to log in. If there is an issue I am happy to troubleshoot with you.

App is improving

My original rating was 1-star as the app was plainly unusable due to an issue with login upon launch. I eventually discussed with the developer through Reddit and he was able to deliver an update which fixed the problem.

I've now modified to a 4-stars rating as many issues were fixed in the last weeks. Nonetheless it's not 100% yet but keep up the good work!

- I cannot launch some movie, not sure if the format (mkv, HDR, ...) is the issue or what (I don't own the library which I'm connected to)
- Please allow to use Thumbnails in the Home tab too
- I cannot use -15 +15 buttons, nor can I scroll in the timeline to go forward/backward (seems to be due to 'non paid' version but haven't seen it mentioned in the app)
- If I reopen a movie it starts from the beginning every time

Hey LucaAltUS, I think we were able to touch base via Reddit. I am glad we were able to get you logged in and get your library loading. I appreciate your thoughts on future improvements!

Useful app worth trying

If you enjoy watching movies from Plex, this app provides an Apple Cinema-like experience. The virtual theater the developer created is second to none. I recommend you try to 7 day free trial to see if the app works for you. The app uses a subscription model ($2.99/month or $29/year). I’m not a fan of subscriptions, but I understand that creating an app for a small market is both time consuming and does cost money / require learning new skills. The app does have some bugs and needs, but I’ve been in contact with the developer and he is working on them and is very responsive. I’m giving this app a shot to see what evolves. I use it regularally to watch my Plex content. I hope to see this app available for a one-time purchase as things settle down. In any case, this is a useful app and I see it getting every better and more complete.. I find watching immersive content to be one of the “killer‘ app experiences for the Vision Pro at this time. I’m willing to support developers who want to expand this type of functionality to users beyond Apple TV+ and IMAX, etc.

Update: 5/16/24 I have added a star to my original review. Andrew, the developer, has worked hard to address virtually all of my original concerns. He has released updates in TestFlight nearly every day or so and has also released several significant updates to the App Store. He added an additional environment, balcony seating, subtitles, local content access, search, thumbnails / artwork selection, and downloads, and addressed many of the original bugs. I look forward to the continued enhancements and really appreciate his efforts and willingness to communicate and make this app one of the best ways to view your Plex content when using the AVP. I’m hoping to see a one-time option for purchase as things settle out. I literally use this app every day. The cinema experience in a theater environment for Plex content is second to none at this time.

Hi Andyhny, I think we connected via email and I’m glad that we could get you logged in and using the app. If this is another user, I updated the app recently to resolve this issue and would appreciate you giving this another try!

Great app for plex

Overall great app, especially compared to what’s available right now in the App Store. Only reason its four stars out of five is because my download function is not working. I’ve tried downloading multiple things off my Plex server and it just does not work. It gives me an error symbol. Downloading through the Plex iPad app works fine so I know it’s not my server. Once the downloading function is fully resolved I’ll update my review to five stars.

Response from developer

Thanks for reaching out. I am aware of this issue and although it won't help you resolve the issue, perhaps it will give clarity around the issue. The official Plex App uses a 3rd party video player that can handle basically any format you throw at it. However, this app is using the system video player at the present time. As a result, I lean on the Plex server to transcode files when necessary and sometimes it works, and sometimes there are errors. I am hopeful that I can dig in deeper and resolve those issues because I have noticed it as well and I want a smooth experience! I recently added local video playback as an alternative option to backup some media there (outside of app functionality). Know that this issue is actively on my mind. I will be sure to come back and edit the response when I have more to report! EDIT: Hey Mobious_Black, I just wanted to let you know that downloading should be in a better place now. Thank you for the feedback!

Borderline works

The only thing that seems to work is the in app subscription. Other than that; signing in is a pain, client crashes are constant. When you play a video, you can’t forward or even use seek/progress bar. This just isn’t in a state where it should’ve been released yet.

Response from developer

Hey Rybecks, I've improved the sign in process to hopefully address issues there. Regarding the seek/progress bar: You are experiencing the limited version of the app as a freemium user. When you do the free trial or subscribe, you are not limited to a time limit and seeking and progress do indeed work. Play time is synced with your server so that when you stop content you can easily watch it from where you left off, whether that is on your Vision Pro or another client. I'm in the process of releasing downloads in the next couple days as the next major feature release and I hope you give it another try.
