new field for me

I'm finding out that video synthesis has been around awhile. Maybe someone familiar with the hardware and software could find something to complain about, I can't.…I find the app both deeply complex and easy to use. The interface is extremely well designed. There's instant gratification (at least for me) as well as so many tools for creativity. Last night I diddled around for half an hour and came up with something very satisfying.
It seems the developer has more in mind. This is a nearly perfect app and there'll be improvements?
The developer has excellent video tutorials. To me lack of resources can defeat an app.
My only beef is that I'd like to pay for it but I can't justify the subscription. I'm living on Social Security and subscriptions will kill me (perhaps literally, if I don't show restraint). The free version is good. Really good. But I think it's important to pay when you can.

wow!

it looks amazing and the sky is the limit. i wish there was a one-time purchase option though. other than that great stuff!

Outstanding video synth app!

As someone who loves visual art and live performance tools, Chromatose genuinely impressed me. This isn’t just another visualizer app - it’s a serious real-time video synthesizer packed with capabilities you’d expect in much larger desktop tools, but optimized for mobile. And all from an indie developer that actually responds to feedback. Well done!! 👏👏

Full Blown Video Synthesis

Love the features and possibilities! A full blown video synthesis environment on iOS. Congrats on this achievement, fully recommended!

All you could ask for!

State-of-the-art features such as HDR rendering, audio reactivity, MIDI support, an intuitive user interface, and plenty of effects, all for free… and without ads. That’s unheard of. I highly recommend to glitch artists, video synth hobbyists and VJs at all skill levels!

Thanks so much! Glad you’re enjoying it. Still many more features coming too.

Insane Video Synth

If you've ever thought about dabbling into the video synth world, then this app is for you! It is super powerful and unbelievably versatile. The variety of two oscillators, multiple mixing options, as well as effects and modulators is more than enough for anyone to create some incredible visuals from scratch. I personally love the feedback effect! It's all about dialing in those sweet spots for swhirly rainbow trills! 😵‍💫🌈

Bout Time

Finally a iOS based visual synthesizer with modular feeling. This and Rhodospin are the only legit video synth apps. Can’t wait to see what the future holds. Don’t need to spend hundreds or even thousands on say LZX gear, this is a perfect entry point. My hat goes off to u, an amazing app the video synth world thanks you

way to expensive… for open source stuff

Idea is nice and it’s not the only one.. there are plenty of visual synths… many use libraries that are open source.. don’t know but this is way too expensive for what it can do… if you know visual synths… nothing new… excepted much more for the price … but to use other work and ask so much money for its bad …

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. In v1.1 we reduced and simplified pricing, and made the Free plan more generous (no watermark up to 1080p). To clarify, Chromatose’s graphics engine is 100% custom-built in Metal (no libraries or open-source code at all). The engine and shaders are hand-written iOS native code, which is how we hit such low-latency performance. We respect other visual synths; however there are quite a few differentiators making Chromatose unique. We focus on usability and a unique approach to crafting truly custom visuals from scratch. Tell us what would make it a "yes" for you. We're listening.

Nice somehow but absurdly high subscription price!

It seems to be a nice capable app at a first glance. Be aware aware that the upgrade (needed for getting rid of the watermark, letting you save presets and so on) will cost 60 € /year for standard and 120 €/year for „pro“ version. Total dealbreaker. Make it a reasonable one time purchase, otherwise this is an instant „erase and forget“… which I will do now…

Response from developer

Thanks for the candid feedback. In v1.1 we simplified pricing: one Pro plan at a lower price than before (about €50/year depending on region). The Free plan no longer shows a watermark up to 1080p output. We use a subscription to fund ongoing updates and support. See our blog for full details about the pricing and all other changes. Hope you’ll give it another look.

Best app for making live visuals

I am a live multimedia artist @liquidlightshow
When this app came out it instantly became one of my favorite new ways of creating live visuals that really are 1000% custom and unique, with all the different parameters every visual made is unique. Mind blown this app is incredible

Little gem - huge features

Chromatose is a little gem that gives you surprises the more you use it. Every tap expands a new set of features which completely changes your approach. The app is insanely smooth for what you can do. I love it!

One Word: yes

The best thing since the invention of color.

Great app

Lots of fun and the visuals are looking amazing

Insane

This is insane. The amount of things you can do just blows me away. I’m so happy this app exists. It’s gonna be the go to app for visuals run on TVs and projectors.
