Keeps crashing

I really wanted to enjoy this and try it- I can’t get past maybe the first 30 seconds. It keeps crashing. This is frustrating and stupid. I hope there’s an update soon.

barely works

did they bother to work with app developers who actually know what theyre doing, jfc

Don’t know anything about the game

I don’t know anything about the game....
It would not load.
It crashed the first time I loaded it.
The second time it just stayed on the opening music and screen..
Nothing!

Beautiful, and working again!

FYI: WORKS AFTER iOS 14.1 UPDATE

Incredibly immersive, with an impressive amount of detail. I can easily lose track of time just taking in all the sights and sounds of this app. Unfortunately, it tends to crash occasionally, and it needs an update to take advantage of the resolution of newer devices... I can't even take one star off for the instability; it's just that stunning.

Feels for the windy scenes

Can’t get it to work

Good idea, was looking forward to it, disappointing it would t work, got endless loop instead.

Tough to run

It’s an amazing app but due to its size and quality it is tough to run.

Wonderful

This is a wonderful app especially for those interested in Vancouver history. I wish the story continued but it provided a fascinating snapshot of post war Vancouver. I had no problem playing this on my iPad Pro so perhaps the problems identified in other reviews relate to memory or bandwidth issues.

Fascinating and impressive - Wish it worked

Can’t get the app to load reliably with iOS 13. It goes into endless loop after introduction before loading chapters. I’ve been able to stumble into the chapters enough times to see how rich and detailed the program is, lots of work and research. Really beautiful. Hope it can be updated to fix the loading bug. Low rating due to reliability only.

hangs on story selection

zoom into hogan’s alley and repeat. endless loop. very sad

Nope

It keeps crashing and the controls are atrocious. Why isn’t there a way to change the controls?

Update needed

Beautifully made but the screen turns black too often... an update is needed so I’m deleting the app... too bad I liked it

Great way to force device to purge cache! 😁

I haven't tried the app at all because I am chronically short on space on my phone! BUT, if you have less space than the 2g this app requires (‼️), trying to install it will cause the device to free up space by purging some cache- namely "Documents & Data" from the lame Apple Podcasts app! 😃

INCREDIBLE APP!!! When it works!

I’ve had this app for a few years now, and on my iPAD Air2 using iOS 10+ (Not 11+) it worked pretty good with minimal interruptions. Though it’d occasionally crash either after selecting either of the two story lines, OR just as you’re puttering about, it can DIE! This app has SO MUCH potential, and it’s extremely accurate as far as building layouts are concerned, especially the old, second Hotel Vancouver that the hotel story is based upon.

It does a great service to the old (second) Hotel Vancouver (the first one burned down in the late teens or early 1920s, which was built on the very corner of Granville Street and West Georgia Streets, across from Birks Jewlers (now Scotia Tower) and NOT the current hotel, two blocks away on West Georgia and Burrard streets), which was originally a CN hotel that was unfinished because of bankruptcy, at the same time they tore down the original one).

It was such a SUPER COOL building unlike anything before it, replete with gigantic 6’ moose heads adorning the perimeter, just under the roofline, which have all been lost to the wrecking ball. So bizarre and utterly fantastic a hotel in it’s design, there has NEVER been anything like it, or even close since. Even interior shots are exceeding rare to find, and the artist has got all the details just right, NOT an easy thing to do with limited archival documents or pictures left today. The only thing I’d like to see, (aside from a much needed iOS 11+ update BADLY needed), is more levels/floors to explore, like the rooftop balconies and rooftop gardens. Not to mention other details unique to the structure as well.

I know I’m going to be contacting the NFB to see exactly what their plans are with respect to this incredible app. I never got tired of touring about these two interesting story lines through the app. The personal stories are taken from actual personal accounts from the past, as well as personal letters from real individuals who actually stayed there.

One last thing: FIX THIS THING A.S.A.P. !
(I’ll be waiting with baited breath . . . .)

2 bad

super cool app but it crashes so often :(

My favourite game

immersive and beautiful

Complex and Fascinating

A truly fascinating and immersive experience. This app does not grow old quickly. It is extremely well done with world-class audio, dialogue, and music. The amount of detail and things to listen to keep me exploring for hours. I would have given it five stars but it occasionally crashes. Hopefully they can make some minor tweaks to fix this. We need more apps like this!

5 stars, but not for me.

I can easily see this being a 5 star game for someone who's into the excruciating detail this app presents. Just not me. Sorry Film Board of Canada, keep it simple, brainless, zombie FPS, so I don't need to think. I can use the space for yet another 10 different versions of Subway Surfers.

Moral of the story

In the middle of the 3rd story and it crashed. Moral of this app is that cops were criminals I guess. Everyone knows that cops have been and continue to be organized crime syndicates. Nothing new here. Delete!

Crash 2015

My new iPad crashes as soon as I select my story option. I tried both, multiple times.
