The city is a game. Discover what’s inside. City Unboxed is an outdoor city game: scavenger hunt, outdoor escape and city trail in one, played on foot through Berlin — alone, as a pair or as a team. Five quest types, from real criminal cases and missions to city history and a treasure hunt for the whole family. At every stop, GPS unlocks a new challenge for you to solve together. Five quest types Discovery: You see familiar places from an unfamiliar angle. Mission: You take a role and carry out an assignment. Cold Case: You follow the trail of real crimes. Battle: Your team goes head to head with another. Family: A treasure hunt for young and old. Every challenge belongs to its place No generic puzzles that could work anywhere. What you need to solve is right there in front of you: a detail on a facade, a date, a hidden marker, or a place most people walk past. The city itself becomes part of the game — this scavenger hunt works in Berlin because it was written for Berlin. How a quest works – Pick a quest, open the app, and start walking – The map guides you to the next stop – The challenge unlocks when you arrive – Get it right: earn points. Be fast: get a speed bonus. – At the end: see your score, tier, and full route The challenges Multiple choice, text answers, photo, and drag & drop. Stuck? A hint costs 10 points, a 50/50 joker 20. Photo challenges have no hints — you’ll have to look closely. Second chance Got it wrong? Spend diamonds for another try. Once per quest. Play as a team. Keep the memories. Play solo, as a pair, or as a team. Everyone joins the same session, and scores sync live. You can instantly see who has arrived and who has solved the challenge. The team leader confirms answers — if they go inactive, someone else can take over. In Battle mode, two teams follow the same route and see each other’s scores live. Your photos are saved to your album and stay there after the game. No team? We’ll find you one. Out on your own but still want to play as a team? The player search connects you with others starting in Berlin at the same time. No competitor does this. Points, XP, and tiers Points are your team’s score within a quest. XP is yours and carries across every quest you play, moving you through the tiers: Starter, Explorer, Local, Legend. Diamonds can be converted into XP — one diamond equals 100 XP. After the quest The route stays with you. Open the map, tap any stop, and read the story again — including the ones you got wrong. Your photos are saved to your album, and completed quests appear in your profile under Progress. Who City Unboxed is for For locals who want to see their city differently. Diamonds are earned through play and can’t be purchased. German, English, Russian Properly translated, not run through a machine. Support answers in German, English and Russian. What you need A smartphone for each player, mobile data, a charged battery, and comfortable shoes for a few hours of walking.
