Clark Speak

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave your review of our ClaroSpeak app. You can take pictures of pages and then listen to them using the Save as audio files feature, which you can access by tapping the Save button. You scanning from the camera, you can add as many photos/pages as you want, but you do have to scan them individually. We're hoping to improve this in a future update, you can scan all of your selected photos together. If you need assistance with anything else, please get in touch with our support team at support@clarosoftware.com and they will be happy to assist. Claro Software

It has great potential though, I look forward to its future, and I think that is what matters more than anything, we all fail and grow - and so do apps.

Does not read from picture scans...

Hello, We're sorry to hear that you had a bad experience using our ClaroSpeak iOS app. The OCR in ClaroSpeak usually gives fantastic results, but it does depend on how good the photo is, that you use. If you're taking photos with your device being flat, then this can disrupt the accuracy of the OCR because your device cannot correctly detect which orientation it is in. If you would like some guidance or help with using the OCR in ClaroSpeak, please get in touch with our support team at support@clarosoftware.com and we'll be happy to assist.
Don’t buy

Hello, I am sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience using our ClaroSpeak app. What issues did you encounter using the app? ClaroSpeak Plus only has in-app purchases for additional voices, which are complete optional. Everyone who purchases gets 4 free voice downloads of their choice. Downloading/saving as audio files are completely free and do not require any in-app purchases.
Horrible

Hello, Thank you for leaving feedback for our ClaroSpeak app. We're disappointed to hear that you have had a bad experience using ClaroSpeak. Were you using the iOS system voices, or did you download any of the extra voices? You get to choose 4 of the higher-quality voices free-of-charge. If you are still using the app and would like some technical support regarding this issue, please get in touch at support@clarosoftware.com and we will be happy to help you with this.
Keep looking

Hi, sorry you had poor OCR results, what device do you have? We recommend a minimum 2MP camera (iPhone 4 onwards, iPad 3rd gen onwards or iPod Touch 4th gen onwards). If your device meets this spec and you still have ClaroSpeak, please feel free to email your photo to support@clarosoftware.com and we can check it out here.
Feature requests: word limit, pdf and picture via Dropbox, etc.
Also, please allow images from Dropbox to be selected. I can only access pdf and docx.
Also, please add a bookmarking ability so that I can return to a place in a file that is previously ocr'd.
**please make it so that when viewing a PDF, and you scroll through the quick view (by pressing the area on the bottom to view the real pdf view) that when you click back to the OCR'd rendering of it - that it would go to that page that corresponds to the pdf view instead of having to click through every page individually. This is annoying with PDFs of very large page size.
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Adam, I think we've spoke on email but I'll reply to this on here for others to see the answers. Unfortunately the saving to audio limit needs to stay in place (for now) as it uses up too much memory and crashes the app with anything larger. You should now be able to open image files from Dropbox and have them automatically OCRed into readable text. Regarding PDFs, please check out our PDF reading app called ClaroPDF (there's a free version if you want to try it out), this has loads of PDF features like bookmarking and annotations as well as text to speech with synchronised highlighting.
