Clear Chess – Big Pieces

Chess the way you remember it, with pieces you can see. Clear Chess is made for people who know how to play but haven't played in a while. The pieces are big and bold, the board fills the screen, and nothing gets in the way. No ads. No account. No internet needed. EASY TO SEE • Big, bold pieces with a thick dark outline, drawn just for this app • The board fills the whole width of the screen • A high-contrast board, and letters on the pieces if you like • Menus and buttons grow with your text size setting • The computer's moves can be read aloud EASY TO MOVE • Tap a piece to see where it can go, then tap the square. No dragging. • Tap a square it can't reach and you get a short note, not a move • Turn on "Ask before each move" to check every move before it's played • Undo as many moves as you like, and Redo to put them back • Ask for a hint whenever you're stuck A COMPUTER THAT PLAYS AT YOUR LEVEL You choose how you want to play, never a level number: • Relaxed: you'll usually win • Competitive: an even game • Challenge: a real test, and you'll often lose The computer adjusts to your results as you play. In Relaxed, it eases off when it's well ahead. SEE YOURSELF IMPROVE • A personal rating that follows your games, with the number shown only if you want it • A simple graph, and a count of games won and lost • Replay your recent games, one move at a time NOTHING GETS IN THE WAY • No ads, ever • No account, no sign-in, no subscription • Plays without the internet: at home, on a trip, anywhere • No clocks or timers. Take as long as you like. • Your game is saved after every move, so you can stop and come back later • Nothing about you is collected Full chess rules: castling, en passant, promotion, stalemate and draws.
