About

Test your water. Get the exact amount to add. Know when to test again. Clearwater answers in grams and millilitres for your own pool or hot tub, not in general advice. Why does the strip say "ok" while the water goes green? Because 3 ppm of chlorine is fine at a stabiliser level of 30 and close to useless at 80. Most apps carry a single fixed target. Clearwater works out your minimum, your target and your shock level from the stabiliser you actually measured. How much acid do I add? That depends on your alkalinity: at TA 120 it takes roughly twice what it takes at TA 60. Clearwater does the arithmetic, splits a correction that is too large into safe steps, and tells you what each product changes behind your back. Trichlor pushes stabiliser up. Cal-hypo pushes calcium up. Liquid chlorine adds salt. The water is clear. Is it fine? Not necessarily. Clear water can still be dissolving plaster, grout and your salt cell. Clearwater shows the Langelier balance index, with the cyanurate correction most calculators leave out, and names the one value to change first. Will it still be safe on Saturday? Sun burns chlorine and rain dilutes everything. Clearwater projects your chlorine forward across the forecast and warns you before it falls under the minimum. How long should the pump run? Type in the cubic metres per hour printed on your pump and Clearwater works out the hours the whole volume needs to pass through the filter. Something looks wrong. Now what? Green, cloudy, milky, rusty: photograph the water or pick the colour, and get the likely cause and what to add. For stinging eyes or chlorine that will not hold, pick the symptom and get the full shock process, including the three checks that tell you when to stop. Can I photograph my test strip? Yes. Photograph the colour chart on your own bottle once. After that Clearwater compares your strip against your chart, in your light. The photo never leaves your phone; only averaged colours are sent. Is a hot tub just a small pool? No. Different targets, different rhythms, and small volumes get smaller, safer doses. Clearwater keeps them apart. Free and Premium Free: one pool, correct targets, chlorine and pH doses, safety warnings. What's New in Clearwater

1.2

September 5, 2026

PoolPilot is now Clearwater — the same app and the same data, with a new name and a new icon. Fixed: reminders and alerts now actually arrive on your iPhone. Until now the app asked for permission, you granted it, and nothing ever came through. Sorry about that — it works now.
