About

ClipShelf gives you a simple, private place to keep clipboard items you want to use again. Save text, links, and images with ClipShelf’s user-initiated Capture control, organize recent items, and turn frequently reused text into permanent named snippets. Collections keep addresses, replies, meeting links, and other reusable information easy to find. The optional ClipShelf keyboard makes saved text and links available while you type. ClipShelf also includes smart local filters, custom categories, pinned clips, custom snippet ordering, multi-select actions, 24-hour recovery for deleted clips, optional history expiry, an interactive pinned-items widget, Text Tools, Shortcuts actions, portable JSON backup and restore, and optional private iCloud sync. Privacy is built in: • Capture uses Apple’s system paste control. If you explicitly enable Auto-Save and Full Access, ClipShelf also checks the clipboard once when its keyboard opens; iOS controls any paste-permission prompt. • Clipboard history stays in protected local storage by default. • Optional iCloud sync stores your shelf in the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account so it can be restored or used on your other devices. The developer cannot view that private database. • No ClipShelf accounts, advertisements, analytics, or tracking. • Images are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. • Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode can protect the main app and sensitive clips. Sensitive clips remain identifiable in ClipShelf lists and require successful device authentication before their protected content can be used. • Manual backups are standard JSON files saved only to the location you choose. They can contain readable clip content, including sensitive clips, so store them somewhere private. ClipShelf never receives these files. • Full Access is optional. With it off, the keyboard can display saved clips read-only, insert saved text and links, and provide private typing. Enable Full Access only for keyboard-side Capture, Auto-Save, image copying, pinning, and deletion. Even with Full Access, ClipShelf never runs a background listener or continuously polls the clipboard. • “Save to ClipShelf” is a user-initiated action extension for text, links, and images supplied by a host app through the iOS share sheet. It never reads the clipboard. iOS does not permit third-party keyboards in secure fields or apps that disable custom keyboards. Image insertion support depends on the destination app; ClipShelf can copy a saved image for you to paste using the destination app’s normal Paste command.
