What's New in CloudpilotEmu

1.5

December 30, 2025

CloudpilotEmu now supports PalmOS 5 on the Tungsten E2. Also, minor bugfixes.

User reviews

Strangely buggy now???

The app is still great and perfectly functional, but on my model iPad (1st gen Pro, 12.9-inch) it seems to request updates even though there was none and it changes nothing. I'm pretty sure it's working fine other than that weird update thing which I can't tell if it's intentional or not.

Response from developer

This is definitely not intentional. I have observed the same issue on my phone and suspect it is triggered by the latest iOS update. I am investigating ways to suppress the issue, but I am still not sure whether this is a wise thing to do. Please navigate to the „About“ tab and select the „reset worker“ link at the bottom. This should fix the issue. If it doesn’t, please open a bug on Github. EDIT: I have added a workaround that should prevent any further bogus update notifications.

Great app - very easy and intuitive

Thank you for making this app. It’s the most fully featured, intuitive, and flexible app I could imagine and far better than any emulation experience I’ve ever had. So easy to load the OS and to install apps and the persistent state is very helpful.

Amazing

Faithful, Nostalgic, Incomparable, Polished, Stable, Unparalleled, Complete Palm OS emulator. Seeing it run and reading the documentation and help, it’s clear this developer cares and is a 10x engineer.

Did anyone see the install size?

1.2MB.

“What?!”

Good, but a problem.

I can get the versions of Palm that I have downloaded working, except that I can't get past the setup. It asks me to tap the stylus (finger was used for this) in the top left, bottom right, then center. No matter how many times I try, I cannot get past it. If you have any way to tell me how to get past this, do tell me.

Edit: I found out the solution shortly after posting this. If you're suffering the same problem, tap the emulator screen, not the graffiti board with four buttons on it's side. Other than the previously fixed problem, I can't find any other issues with the app.

Response from developer

Nice you figured it out yourself ;) What you describe is the calibration screen shown by PalmOS during setup. It requires you to tap the center of the crosshairs on the touchscreen. On a real device, this allows PalmOS to determine the necessary parameters for the algorithm that converts voltage readouts to screen positions. On CloudpilotEmu, PalmOS is patched to give 100% accurate positions without the need for calibration. but the calibration step is still performed by the OS nevertheless.
