Language Reference?
I’m trying to find the reference for this language. It is important to know what is SUPPOSED to work. For example. Is RANDOM (1) supported? The app’s links do not tell.
If I’ve guessed right, it Seems like a reasonable compiler.

Works but…
Works fine, compiles code and runs for practice, but you get 1 compile for free then it wants to charge you per compile. Stupid
Very Useful
Extremely thorough and useful app for getting started with COBOL. Very impressed. 990 page PDF doc included in the app with tremendous documentation.
Well worth £2.99 for unlimited compilations
Recreational COBOL only, it has a couple of major limitations that confine it to recreational: 1. absence of an interactive mode 2. No files. But this shouldn’t put you off, the level of functionality is well worth the small fee for unlimited compilations and hours of fun!
What’s the point of this app?
Not sure what the point of this app is
Thank you so much! Needed this for a job
You guys are LOVED & appreciated.

Love and hate
The compiler is nice, but having to input the data every time I need a different program is a pain. Not being able input data and save it makes the program next to useless in a real world environment. I work in places where there is no wifi, internet connection. I am not able to use compiled programs, since each program must be re-compiled to be able to use. I love COBOL, and need to have multiple data files, and do keyboard input while the program is running.

Love it
Love the app but not sure if MOVE is supported. Doesn't tell me if cobol.65 supports it.
DO NOT BUY
Makes you pay for your first compilation. 0/10 do NOT reccommend.
Response from developer
You can compile sample program for free.
Most Statements Works As Documented
Using a site that provides programming examples, I have been putting this app through an extreme and thorough test of the various statements and conditions.
With some minor changes "such as TALLYING ... FOR ALL CHARACTERS" fails with the use of ALL, but removing it makes it work fine.
A biggie is that the EVALUATE statement does not work. Looks like IF/ELSEIF is our only choice as a replacement.
I haven't gotten to file handling yet, but I suspect that there is no file handling other than possibly cut/paste your dataset into the INPUT screen. This would mean, unless you do some cleaver coding, that only one file can be used.
Will update with a list of all tests and whether they work or not, or if other modifications not part of the standard norm is needed.

Good but limited
This app is a lot of fun if you want to play around with some recreational COBOL on your iOS device (which you do: you only *think* you don't). It's attractively-designed and easy to use. Not having access to files is a much bigger restriction, mind, than it would be with some languages—I'd gladly sacrifice stdin in return for being able to read text files; but that may not be easy for the developer to implement. One fault that could, however, be remedied is the fact that the in-app reference materials relate specifically to the proprietary implementation of COBOL that runs under z/OS—which this is not: if suitable documentation for this particular COBOL is not available, a generic ANS COBOL manual would be much more useful than one full of extensions that the app does not support.

This app isn't free at all
Really needed a COBOL program to practise on and found this one in the App Store. I was delighted to find it was free. I spent ages creating my COBOL script, went to compile, and found this is I want to run anything, I need to pay for it. Don't make me waste my time when I need to pay for the app for it to actual do anything.
It is a real shame because the app looks great and works well, until you actually want to do something in it. Disappointed

Unfortunately we can't offer free compilations.
Pay for compiles?
I like the app but three compiles isn't enough to know if I'm willing to spend money on it. Why not make the free version good for a few more builds? If I like it I would definitely pay $2.99 for unlimited. Charging for an additional 100 compiles just doesn't seem right

Great App!
I am writing a compiler that targets many languages and this app is ideal for my purposes. Keep up the good work!
Easy to use! Great for on the go
This program works exactly as described. It is very simple in the layout and you can easily email files out via email! If you require a cobol application on the go for your iPad then this is surely the one you want.
It's ok
I have been searching for programming apps for COBOL, java HTML 5.... Etc. and stumbled across this one. It is good and runs most programs, a few things I don't really like about it though are;
Runtime errors, limits on how many compiles/ runs you can do in a day, and having to input the values before running(not as program written prompts for input) but otherwise good
