Thank you for your feedback, and we’re truly sorry for your experience. This app is designed specifically for coin identification, so it won’t recognize animals or other objects. If you had trouble identifying a coin, please try scanning both sides in good lighting and make sure the coin is centered and in focus. If it still doesn’t work, please contact us through the app’s Support section — we’ll be happy to help and improve the results.
Not Accurate At All
However, when I try to scan my coins, it does come up with some of the same coin, but not of the same year or composition, as well as gives me a bunch of coins that are nowhere near what my coin is. For instance, I have a silver US Washington quarter from 1961. Now, obviously, I know this is a US quarter, but when I scan it into the app, it brings up a few Washington quarters of other years, as well as a bunch of pesos and other coins from other countries.
Aside from the fact that it isn’t identifying THIS coin, it also doesn’t let me add THIS coin to my collection with the information I know about it; I have to select a coin that isn’t my coin to add it to the collection.
Additionally, the scanning functionality is not very good. Instead of being able to point my phone at the coin and have it auto-focus, or even be able to tap the screen to force it to focus, I have to move the phone further away and then zoom in on it, which means I’m taking a really unstable photo, which often comes out blurry, or outside the actual scan area, so it misses part of the coin, forcing images to be retaken over and over.
To top it off, the coins it does come back with often have no information about the coin, so it really doesn’t provide anything at all, except for a place to save a couple photos of your coins.

Some coins with very similar designs (such as Washington quarters from different years) can be difficult to identify precisely, and the scanner may return similar results.
