Flawed but glad its an option

Could use updating and continued improvments. But im just happy to have the option.

Pretty solid. It works but could use bugfixes

Would really like to be able to use colmak on my phone, with this but the (og) keyboard is unfortunately broken on safari. The period button appears and becomes larger than the spacebar. The tab keyboard also appears to be set incorrectly. It drops inputs pretty fequently. The no frills colemak version seems to work mostly fine, though predictive text, as well as the hold spacebar to slide back and forward through is only partially functional. (It only works with left and right.) hence my 3/5. It works! Just not the cool variants don’t, and not without some issues.

Lack of settings and characters

Not allowing to modify settings is a killer for this :( I’m constantly fighting the auto-caps and auto-period features, which I have disabled for the default keyboard. Also, not being able to use the second menu of special characters is a massive roadblock. I’m constantly having to switch betweed this and the default while typing.

Love the app

I love the app the keybord is exactly what I wanted but I wish it had AutoCorrect

Great For Colemak Typists

Thank you for contributing this app! Im glad you added Mod DH.

Its not correctly staggered

I like the concept of increasing the size of the ARST row, making it fit the width of the screen, however its not practical, as my muscle memory is taking me to the correct destination, relative to where the position of the key should be on a regular keyboard. Can you please create an option, or just make it standard to have the layout correctly staggered, instead of size efficient. Thankyou!

Feature request

When using the Colemak keyboard, I can’t access the third layer of symbols. I can use the normal ones such as :;()$&@, but I have to switch back to the default keyboard to type symbols such as #%[]{}*+€£. If this could be updated, that would be exremely helpful.

I love the effort

It’s great to see people apply effort to port Colemak onto iPhone.

It’s missing haptic feedback, word suggestions and swipe functionality. But I appreciate the effort regardless.

I use Colemak as physical keyboard on my iPad, so it’s rather awkward to switch between physical colemak and qwerty on the screen.

The best app for colemak

This is the best app for colemak. If you want colemak on ios, get this one.

It would be nice to see more develepment, for example a slide to type feature. But understandably that would be difficult without a big user base some cash flow (in the correct direction)

Colemak is Open Source, so people (that are smarter than me) can add stuff to it that is currently missing. Thanks for the kind words!

Update

After the most recent update, the keyboard is awesome as opposed to what it used to be. I’m so glad that the backspace is on the bottom again and the keys/numbers fit well on the top row

Floating keyboard is unusable on iPad Pro

Aspect ratio of the keys using the floating keyboard on 2023 iPad Pro is completely off. Keys are twice as tall and half as wide as the standard floating keyboard – they’re not even wide enough to accommodate all of the letter symbols.

**v2 update: floating keyboard on 2023 iPad Pro is still broken, but in a different way. Once again, the keys are half as wide as the standard keyboard - except for the top (number) row, where the keys are the same size that they would appear on the docked keyboard. I never use the keyboard docked, so this app is still useless for me. My one star rating stands.

Oh, and the app support link on the App Store page goes to a form that apparently doesn’t work in Safari on latest iOS. Tried to contact you folks directly…oh well.

Thank you for the feedback! We have rewritten the app and fixed the layout on all devices. Let us know how you like it 😄

Its alright for the price.

Its the only free app I can find that works on my device but even so, Its not that great. The ratio of the keys is terrible, looks and feel. And the random dollar sign($) makes the space bar almost impossible to hit. Would not recommend. I saw another app that works on IOS 17 and up but Im not on that yet as my device is older. And there is a paid app that has Colemak and another keyboard layout.

A good start!

Since there are very few (or none?) apps catering to Colemak users on the App Store. I appreciate that this exists. But its lack of basic features like auto completion is a major drawback at this point. Looking forward to future versions, hopefully with feature improvements.
