Terrible Don’t Waste Money On this
Response from developer
Thanks for trying the app and for the clear feedback. Matching a yellow wall as gray is not the result the app should give, and I understand why that would be frustrating. I’ve made major improvements to the paint matching and general color matching engine in the latest update, especially for cases where lighting or wall texture can throw off the result. Please try the newest version (3.37) when it becomes available in the next 24-48 hours. If you still see incorrect matches, please use the in-app feedback option and, if possible, include the photo or details about the lighting so I can investigate the exact case. I’d appreciate the chance to earn back your trust, and if the update works better for you, I’d be grateful if you would reconsider your rating.
Zero accuracy

Wish the outrageous charges had been mentioned before I downloaded
If y’all would like to price this app at a reasonable rate, I might use it; but, $4.99 for an app that I, a professional artist, might use once a month? Nope. The value just is not there.
Response from developer
Thank you for the honest feedback. I understand why a subscription model would feel like a poor fit for someone who only expects to use the app occasionally. I do want to clarify that the App Store listing shows the in-app purchase options before download, the app includes a substantial set of features for free, and Pro is optional. For users who prefer not to subscribe, there is also a Lifetime purchase option for one-time access with no recurring payment. I appreciate your perspective, and I agree that pricing has to match how often someone expects to use a tool. If you decide to revisit the app, I’d be grateful if you’d consider updating your review based on the free features and the full set of purchase options available.
Very bad at matching
Response from developer
Thanks for the feedback — that definitely shouldn’t happen under normal conditions. Color matching accuracy depends heavily on lighting, shadows, glare, and camera exposure. Very dark browns (especially “almost black”) can reflect surrounding light and pick up cool tones, which may cause a blue-leaning suggestion if the lighting is uneven or the surface has shine. For best results: • Use natural, even lighting (avoid yellow indoor bulbs) • Hold the phone steady and close to the surface • Avoid shadows or reflections • Tap different areas and compare the confidence % shown Many users get highly accurate matches when lighting is controlled, and we’re continuously improving detection precision. If you’d like, send us a photo through support and we’ll personally help you dial it in.
Pretty useless
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback — this is a fair concern and an important one to clarify for others reading. Camera-based colour identification will always be influenced by lighting conditions (natural vs artificial light, colour temperature, shadows, reflections). The app measures what the camera sees, not the underlying paint formula, so the same wall can appear differently across rooms even when the paint itself is identical. For best results, we recommend scanning in neutral daylight or using the app as a close visual match and reference, rather than a lab-grade replacement. Dedicated physical colour sensors can reduce lighting variation, which is why professionals often use them. That said, many users still find the app useful for narrowing choices, browsing paint books, and getting quick approximations without specialised hardware. We appreciate you sharing your experience — it helps set realistic expectations.
dumb app
Huge Time Saver
Fun and useful
Total rubbish
Response from developer
We’re sorry this was your experience. Colour Identifier: Paint Match is a legitimate app used by many homeowners and professionals. Results can vary based on lighting and camera conditions, and it won’t be perfect in every case. If something looks off, please use the in-app Support button so we can review and help.
Yet another scammy app that tricks you into subscription and offers little to no utility
Response from developer
I’m really sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. I do want to clarify a few important points for anyone reading: 1. The app never charges without user consent. A 3-day free trial is clearly presented by Apple, and you can cancel at any time in your App Store settings with no cost. 2. The paywall is shown upfront so users can decide before using any Pro features. Nothing is hidden or “tricked” — this is the standard Apple subscription flow across millions of apps. 3. If the color match wasn’t accurate for your lighting or surface, we’re always happy to help. Indoor lighting, shadows, and glossy finishes can affect readings, and we have support tools to improve accuracy. 4. You didn’t need to keep a subscription you didn’t want. If you missed the cancellation window, Apple’s system allows refunds directly through Report a Problem — we respond to those promptly. I completely understand being upset about an unexpected charge, but it’s not our intention to mislead anyone.
Not much help
Response from developer
Hi there, thanks for giving the app a try. The app is designed specifically to identify and match paint colors, but accuracy can be affected by things like lighting conditions, shadows, or glossy surfaces. Most users get good results once the lighting is even and the camera has a clear view of the wall. If you’re open to giving it another try, you may find it works better than your first experience. Your feedback is appreciated, and I hope you’ll consider updating your review if things improve.
Not even close
Response from developer
Hi there, I’m sorry you experienced results that far off. When a salmon/orange reads as green, it usually means something is interfering with the camera input (lighting, reflections, or a sensor glitch), not that the app can’t detect the color. I’ve tested the app on thousands of colors across many lighting environments, and results that extreme are not typical. It may also be an issue with the camera session on your device. If you’re seeing completely unexpected readings, force-closing and reopening the app—or restarting your phone—usually resolves it. I’d be interested to know which device you’re using so we can look into why you saw such an unusual result. And if you decide to give it another try, I hope you’ll find the accuracy much closer to what you expected and consider revising your review.
Unwanted subscription
Response from developer
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. All subscriptions and free trials are handled directly by Apple, including billing and cancellation. To avoid being charged, the free trial must be canceled through your Apple ID settings before it ends. That said, you didn’t need to be stuck in this situation—we’re always here to help. If you had reached out to us first, we would have guided you on how to cancel and request a refund from Apple. You can still do so by contacting us directly at v5cqpsj4e3u4@opayq.com, and we’ll provide the steps. We kindly ask that you reach out so we can assist you, and if this resolves your concern, please consider updating or revising your review.

Accurate paint matching
Great design tool
Scam
Response from developer
Hi Aleah725, I understand why you’d be frustrated — the live camera color identification is indeed our main feature, and it’s part of the premium version. We chose this model so we can keep the app ad-free, maintain our servers, and continue improving accuracy and brand support for users who rely on it professionally. The free version lets you explore our color libraries, browse paint brands, and see how the interface works before deciding if the live color match feature is worth unlocking. Many of our users find the upgrade valuable after trying it out, and we offer a 3-day free trial of the premium version that you can cancel anytime. We’re definitely not here to scam anyone, and we value honest feedback like yours. If you’d like, email us at v5cqpsj4e3u4@opayq.com — I’d be happy to set you up with an extended trial so you can test the color identifier before making a decision. Kind regards, Michael

Very disappointed
Follow up. Managed to get a refund from apple. Thank you for telling me as I was not aware I could do that. I increased my rating to 3 as although I
It didn’t help me it might be helpful to someone else and the developers were helpful.
Response from developer
Hey Mate, I’m really sorry to hear this and that’s not the experience I want for my users. I can’t handle refunds directly, but you can visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/118223 to request a refund from Apple. If it’s denied for some reason, please e-mail me at v5cqpsj4e3u4 @ opayq dot com and I will set it straight personally. I hope you and your family are doing as well as you can be given the emergency. Cheers.
