Your skin leans one way — golden, pink, or somewhere between. Colors that go with that direction look like they belong to you. Colors that run against it make your skin look tired. That is why the same lipstick can be lovely on a friend and wrong on you. Nothing was wrong with the lipstick, and nothing is wrong with your skin. MEASURED, NOT GUESSED Most color apps read a single photo. But your camera receives light and skin mixed together and cannot separate them — which is why one app calls you warm in the evening and cool the next morning. That is a physics problem, not something a better algorithm has fixed. ColorKnow asks you to hold a plain sheet of white paper in the shot. A white sheet should come out white; when it comes out yellow, that yellow belongs to the lamp. Knowing how far off one object of known color came out tells us how far off everything else in the frame came out — including your skin. Color is read live from the camera and the frame is thrown away. Only numbers are kept — never anything that could rebuild your face. The app asks for camera access and nothing else: not storage, not your photo library. Sign in and those numbers sync to your account so a new phone finds them. Stay signed out and nothing leaves this phone. WHAT THIS IS NOT The tone is measured. The colors are worked out from that measurement. They are not a stylist's opinion, not a season label, and not matched to real products yet — we would rather tell you that than dress a calculation up as expertise.
