What's New in ColorMixer Mix Unmix & Convert

3.3.1

July 3, 2026

More hobby paint libraries, always up to date: browse a growing set of model & hobby paint color libraries — Tamiya, Mr. Color (Gunze), Humbrol, Testors, Vallejo, AK, and more. Libraries are now loaded from our online source, so new colors and updates arrive automatically without an app update. Find Color: a new search screen that looks across every color library at once — search by name or code, see matches grouped by brand, and send any result straight to Mix, Unmix, or Convert. My Colors – Sort & Group: sort your saved colors by date added, hue, brightness, or name, and group them by paint type or brand. Precise editing: edit or delete an individual saved color without affecting other colors that share the same RGB value. Polish: the interface now extends edge-to-edge for a cleaner, more consistent look.

Broken

The last app update was 4 years ago. With current IOS, some critical app functionality isn’t working adequately. Used to be a great app. But currently broken.

Realism Varies

This app is almost perfect but has one major flaw. When I was testing the color mixing features for accuracy, I noticed that every time I mixed yellow with blue, I would get a gray shade or a very muted grayish-green. This should be how digital color mixing works, but this app claims to simulate real pigment mixing, and for the most part it does, but it never works with yellow and blue. If there is something that I am doing wrong, please inform me of what to do, because this is the best free color mixing app I have found by far.

FAQ

What does ColorMixer do?

ColorMixer simulates real-world color mixing and unmixing using a subtractive color model, which differs from digital RGB mixing. It helps users understand how to achieve specific colors with paints and can break down any color into its component parts.

What are the main features of ColorMixer?

Key features include simulating real-world color mixing, unmixing any color into its prime components, mixing two selected colors, and converting one color into another. It also offers a custom color picker and an expert mode for advanced functionality.

How does the color mixing work in this app?

The app uses a subtractive color model, mimicking how paints mix in the real world. You can select two colors and see their combined result, or use the 'Convert A to B' feature to find the necessary colors and ratios to achieve a target color.

Is ColorMixer free to use?

The app is free to download and use, but it offers in-app purchases. These purchases likely unlock additional features or advanced functionalities beyond the basic free offerings.

Who would benefit from using ColorMixer?

This app is ideal for artists, graphic designers, hobbyists, students learning about color theory, and anyone who needs to understand or replicate physical color mixing accurately. It bridges the gap between digital color models and real-world paint interactions.
