About

You can finally see whether treating on time actually got you more honey. Every other hive app keeps your inspections as a list of notes you scroll back through. Combwell draws them instead: one colony, three seasons side by side, mite counts and harvest weight on the same axis. That chart is the whole app. Thistle peaked at 5.1% mites in 2024, got treated six weeks late, and gave 41 lb. The same colony in 2025 was treated on time, never crossed 3%, and gave 58 lb. Combwell writes that comparison out under the chart in plain sentences, because it is already sitting in the numbers you wrote down. A season goes like this. You tap "Log an inspection" at the yard and it walks you through every colony in turn: queen seen or not, frames of brood, frames of stores, a mite wash if you did one, temperament, whether you added a super. The buttons are 76 points across, so you can hit them in gloves with a frame in your other hand. Nothing is a text field except the notes box, and nothing is a picker wheel. Between visits you record treatments and harvests. A treatment paints a band behind the trend, so you can see whether the mites actually came down after the strips went on. Harvests total up per season and switch between pounds and kilograms without ever changing what was stored. Your records live on this iPhone and nowhere else, which is only worth anything if you can get them out again. Export is the first row in Settings rather than a buried one: four CSV files holding every colony, inspection, treatment and harvest, or a single flat inspection report you can filter by colony and season and hand to a bee inspector. What it does not do: photos, weather, reminders, or anything over a network. There is no account to make and no server holding your seasons. Combwell is one payment. No subscription, no hive limit, no locked seasons, and closing out a colony keeps its history instead of deleting it. Five years from now this app is worth more than it is today, because five years of your own numbers will be in it.

What's New in Combwell

1.1

September 26, 2026

A warmer look, and a few things keepers asked for. - New colours. A walnut ground and a beeswax accent replace the green. - Log an inspection now asks which hive first. Write up one hive on its own, or walk the yard in order. Hives already done today are marked and left out of the round, and any hive can be skipped. - Inspections can be dated, so yesterday's visit lands on yesterday. - Every hive on the apiary screen shows how long since it was last opened. - Smaller type throughout. The glove-sized keys stay glove-sized.
