My go-to app for book parental ratings
I love that the age ratings are based on content, not just reading ability level. ( After all, porn has an average reading level of 6th grade.)
I also love that it’s done by a group of competent human beings; it’s not AI or crowdsourced from students. It makes it more comparable to the ESRB and MPA game and movie ratings.
Add to that the fact that it’s a nonprofit and this is my first choice of parental ratings and content information!

Indispensable tool
I have used this app for years to help guide my kids to appropriate media. There is too much available to manage it on my own. Common sense makes it so much easier!

Over rated
This app while being considered good has a problem with kids maturing and exaggerates about language, drugs, sexual talk, and violence. Kids see stuff like this all the time in school so I feel it is exaggerated. It is also expensive and does not offer enough content for people without a subscription

I have used this app for years! Love it for the in-between years when your kids are too old or young for certain things. It’s also hard to keep up on the latest movies & shows so I like it for quick reference. I feel like it’s a donation to a worthy cause.

Pretty sure they intentionally don't tell you if there is anything LGBTQ in books and movies cuz apparently they decided that we as parents don't have the right to protect our children from that kind of thing.

As a homeschool mom I go to Common Sense Media app to look up books or movies every time I need a wholesome review for my 9 yr old daughter. It’s my safety net!
Great app but glitchy
This is a really good app for movie reviews but if the developers see this I can’t sign into my account because of something it always says something went wrong even when I make a new account

Horrible App & Subscription Issues
I paid for an annual subscription and the app never recognized the purchase so would never let me have the perks as if I had fhe paid for subscription and I still had to pay for the subscription as I paid for the annual subscription. Just horrible….
