Fantastic app

This is such a useful tool and pretty much an essential part of my daily routine.

I use widgets to monitor the status of upcoming trains for my commute every day, I use Live activities to track my journey for most commutes, especially if there are delays.

My only criticism of the current iteration is that they reduced the ability to see previous trains.
When delays occur on the rail network it’s really useful to be able to look at the previous few hours of train departures to see how they’ve been affected. We used to be able to do this but now we only get the previous 30 minutes. Which isn’t very helpful if the train journey you want runs less frequently than that.

Please bring back the ability to see all the trains for the whole day. Thank you.

Hey Nick, glad the app’s been useful for you! The latest update brings back earlier trains - it’s off by default but if you go into the settings menu at the top you can choose to see the last 8 hours of departures 🫡

Great app!

As someone who works on the railway I have to use some pretty odd apps to get the detailed information that I require, but this app has it all and I can’t recommend it enough the only thing I’d love to see in the app is the set/unit number for the whole train as that’d allow me to fully stop using the web tools from worldline. 5/5 Stars Highly
recommend

Doesn’t do what it says

Tried it twice at London Paddington. Zero indicative platforms were shown. Waste of money.

Very useful app

My old go-to app (LiveTrains) is no longer available so searched for another and found this one - it uses the same reliable data source and enhances what I had before with live tracking. The widget that switches train directions after lunch is a very nice touch. Highly recommended!

Exceptional!

Been looking for an app that is kinda like Flighty for tracking trains for SO long. Found this just by chance and it really does deserve to be so much more well known!

So easy to use in comparison to other apps and looks beautiful.

Only gripe (and it’s a tiny one) I can’t see the train layout on my app - may be operator specific though so not sure.

All round amazing and an absolute bargain.

Great!

Works well.. thanks for the recent changes which completely address the points I made. Great app!

Great app, helpful developer

I initially gave this app one star because it wasn’t working and I couldn’t reach the developer. But he replied to my review and we chatted by email. The issue is now resolved and I am really enjoying having a train tracking app that looks great and does what it should. Thank you!!

Response from developer

Hey Jono, Apologies for the bad start, there was an issue with Southeastern lately that should be fixed now! If that was your route, could be worth trying again! If there’s still issues, could you let me know which route you’re searching for? Or is it literally any route? Get in touch at: hello@commutative.co.uk I made this app to track my own commute and still use it daily myself, so in general if there’s anything broken I do have a pretty good incentive to fix it quickly, sorry to have missed this one! Look forward to hearing from you!

Great for getting around!

Lovely looking app and really well built, commendations to Brandon on the design. Very intuitive and great for planning a journey to beat all the other commuters!

The widgets are so cool as well.

Station list wanting !

Major station Brighton (BTN) not available to pick. How many more missing from master list??

At least I can now see trains and the ability to see passing points is useful.

At least one other app does show predicted platforms which change colour when confirmed. Predicted platforms have been available in NR data for years.

Be interesting to see how things progress if app regularly updated.

How about the option to see all departures from a station without having to pick a destination? That would make App really useful.

Details for ’Nerds’ useful, but why class everybody who is interested in this as Nerds. Just drop the Nerd part! It’s stupid and could be insulting to some users.

21.12/24 Two years later I thought I’d give the app another try.

App fails to find any local journeys from Lewes despite the fact direct trains show on other apps. Tried EUS-RUG as shown in App Store. Again a blank. Waterloo to Clapham Junction draws a blank too.

Refund again requested. I’ll stick with Railchecker Pro which is far better and reliable.

Great train app

Love this app and the widgets are brilliant.

I had a technical issue initially with this app, but Brandon the developer was incredibly responsive and sorted it out almost immediately. 5 stars!

Response from developer

Hi Roobin, Very sorry to hear this, I think it might be something specific about the trains on route your searching for To reproduce it on my end, could you let me know which stations you’re going between? Get in touch at: hello@commutative.co.uk Thanks so much, sorry the app isn’t working for you yet!

Unable to see coaches

Edit: This has since been rectified by the developer. Thank you again.

Hello, I work on Avanti trains and I am unable to see the layout. Is there a reason for this? George

Response from developer

Hey George, Sorry to hear that! It depends on the train operator publishing that data into Darwin (some use their own format that only displays at their stations even though there’s a standard format defined by National Rail!) I thought Avanti was one of the good ones, will look into this now 🫡

Would be great if it worked

In theory, this is a fab idea. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work! I searched for a route from London Waterloo to Epsom (it was on the station boards), but this app could not find this route. Update: updated to 4 stars, based on the developer's prompt response; it indicates excellent customer service and builds trust and confidence that bugs are being addressed. If it’s fixed, this would be a five-star app! If there is a wish list, I know this isn’t a route planner and works for direct trains only but one final addition that might help us non-frequent commuters (if possible) is to have an ‘ALL London stations’ option. For example, Epsom is the destination which has direct routes from a couple of London stations (Waterloo and Victoria). It would be great if the app could show these various options which would inform us in selecting the most appropriate route based on station proximity, next train, fastest route etc. Thankyou!

Update

Now five stars. My go-to app for UK train times. Developer has addressed all points from my previous review. Allows you to be one step ahead of crowds waiting by information boards, helping secure a seat before the platform gets busy.

Response from developer

Hi! Been having some issues with stations grouping together wrong recently. Basically, Waterloo is technically a few ‘points’ clumped together and it’s picking the wrong one. I’m really sorry it happened, but very grateful for you mentioning it because now it can be fixed! Will get on this right away and push an update asap. If you’re still unhappy or don’t want to wait, you could get a refund through the App Store
