Worked last season. Not this season

Spinning wheel of loading death. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Messaging!!

Love the new messages feature. Wish I could manage my staff from the app

...

good app, but how long does it take for scores to get released cuz for me it’s been like two weeks

Used to be better

No dates are listed, though they used to be. You can download them to your computer, so could we get an option to download to our mobile device to save some data?

Crashes Early and Often

Easy functionality on the surface, but tapes consistently crash and the app resets. Have to reload tape and figure out where you left off.

App is also pretty slow regardless of type (WiFi/data) and speed of internet connection.

iPad version?

I have been using this app for years, and I hope that one day there is an iPad version! Every time I have a group that performs I have to pull up this app, as well as a web browser for easier navigation.

Ok but could be much better

When you have the app open and don’t go to any other apps, it usually does what it’s supposed to. However, being the only way for us to hear judges’ tapes, there is a lot that could be improved.

1) Work on keeping the audio going while the phone screen is turned off or when switching between apps (e.g. recap, email, and audio). If you don’t keep the app on the screen, the audio stops after about 15 seconds and then you have to restart the app. This means it drains your battery as you listen to it because the screen has to stay on the whole time.

2) Speaking of the screen, please change the back of the screen to black instead of white (and then use white text). White drains phone batteries quicker than any other color, and since we have to keep the screen on the app currently or it resets the app, black would really help save our batteries at the end of a long day of band.

3) After clicking on the tape to listen, it takes either several seconds or clicking multiple times to get the audio to actually start. Can this please be fixed?

4) Have a way to save or export audio. I’d like to be able to share the audio with others who do not have competition suite (e.g. other staff and students), and currently I have no way to do that.

These little changes would make us band instructors much happier! 😊

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! I believe the primary issue is actual because of the new iOS version. If you upgrade to the latest version of iOS (just came out November 7), the ap should begin working in the background again. As for the other requests, we're already working on them and hope to have it available very soon. Feel free to email me at help@competitionsuite.com if you need anything else. -Matt

Not working

I get a blank screen on mine every time. No idea what the issue is. Website works fine, but the app is a no-go

Inconsistent at best

I can’t get the app to stay open for more that 2 minutes without it shutting itself down. When we’re trying to listen to tapes with minimal time before critique it is extremely frustrating. I have to relaunch everything at least 4 times per 8 minute tape. ridiculous.

Crashing During Playback

App keeps crashing during playback after only 20-30 seconds

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that, if you could email me at help@competitionsuite.com and I'll try to figure out what's going on and get it corrected. -Matt

Scroll

I do not like having all the groups streamlined into one long scroll. I much rather prefer to select on a group and see only their tapes. It's too busy to see everyone together. Also, the profile option is useless. It is not possible to adjust settings or account information using the app- you can only modify by thing to their site.

Thank you for the feedback! I'll work on including the group selection in a future update.

Tweaks needed

Still a great app to get my band's competition tapes. Great to now get the recap on the app. However, as someone with multiple organizations and as a judge, I’ve lost the ability to switch between my groups. That was a big feature to me, and now has made this app useless for my needs.

Needs some work

You can listen to judges tapes so it works. It would be great to have an option to download the tapes over WiFi so I could listen to them offline without using data or waiting for it to stream. The other suggestion would be to see scores and recaps. The website has this but I would love to see this transfer over to the app.

We'll work on the option to download over WiFi, thanks for the suggestion! Scores and Recaps are available through the app, but they must be released before they'll show up.

Great app... But...

I love this great streamlined app that allows me to listen to tapes for multiple shows and multiple groups. However, my MUS tape from Thomas Jefferson was a bit suspect. Aside from his comments on drastically changing the role of federal spending and the government, his hypocrisy toward slave-owning and American trade negotiations with Britain were not exactly constructive comments. He also seemed to have an unfair bias towards VIS judge John Adams. He even made a few out-of-caption comments just to contradict what Adams had just said on his tape. Seems like there was a conflict of interest here.
