About

Shed the part you're stuck on. Concerto Shed is a practice tool for musicians who learn songs by ear. Load an audio file, loop the hard section, slow it down without changing the pitch, and pull your instrument out of the mix. Everything runs on your device. LOOP AND SLOW DOWN • Drag across the waveform to loop a phrase • Change speed from half to double without changing the pitch • Shift the loop and the playhead from the keyboard A CLICK THAT FITS THE SONG • Concerto Shed finds the tempo, meter and bar 1 the first time you open a song • A bar ruler shows bar and beat numbers; tap it to jump • Or tap the tempo yourself and nudge the downbeat one millisecond at a time • Count yourself in before the loop comes around MAP OUT THE SONG • Mark Intro, Verse, Chorus and the rest in a lane above the waveform • Tap a section to loop it • Share a song's sections, tempo and patterns as a .shed file HEAR YOUR PART • Split a song into drums, bass, vocals, and other • Solo, mute, or rebalance each stem • An optional experimental model adds piano and guitar • Separation happens on your device; your audio is never uploaded WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU HEAR • You're the click: tap the beat with one hand and play the part with the other, as slowly as the part needs • Build a groove in layers: kick and snare first, hats later • Read it back as a step grid or as standard drum notation • Place patterns on the timeline where they happen in the song PRACTICE MODE • Follows the song and shows the current pattern as notation • A cursor moves along the part and repeats are counted MADE FOR THE WOODSHED • Mac, iPad, and iPhone • Full keyboard control on Mac • No account, no subscription, no tracking

AUTOMATIC TEMPO DETECTION • The first time you open a song, Concerto Shed finds its tempo, meter and bar 1. On studio recordings the beat grid lands within a couple of milliseconds of the music. Press Detect to run it again • Songs that don't hold a steady tempo, like live sets, are flagged instead of guessed • The detection model (41 MB) downloads once, the first time you launch the app A CLICK THAT'S ON THE BEAT • Fixed: the metronome played about 90 ms ahead of the music. It now lands on the beat at full speed and when slowed down. If you lined up a song by hand, press Detect to realign it • Changing the tempo keeps the start of your loop, or bar 1, in place SECTIONS • Mark Intro, Verse, Chorus and the rest in a lane above the waveform. Drag to create, move or resize, double-click to rename, and tap one to loop it • Share a song's sections, tempo and patterns as a .shed file. No audio is included PATTERNS AND PRACTICE MODE • Place patterns on the timeline in their own lane. A section can hold several grooves and fills, and a pattern can be reused anywhere • Practice mode follows the song and shows the current pattern as notation, with a cursor moving along it and repeats counted TIMELINE • A bar ruler with bar and beat numbers. Tap it to jump • Pickups count as bar 0, so bar 1 is always the first downbeat • The timeline and practice mode now fit on iPhone A REFRESHED ICON • The icon picks up a subtle gradient in light, dark and tinted appearances
