About

Connected Homeless is a UK charity. This app is for the people we work with, and everything in it is free. A HELPER THAT REMEMBERS YOU Talk to your helper by typing or out loud, day or night. Give it a name and it is yours. Tell it something once and it remembers: where you are staying, what work you have done, what you are waiting on. Three weeks later it picks up where you left off instead of starting again from nothing. It knows English homelessness law properly. What a council actually owes you, what counts as priority need, what to say at the housing options desk, what to do when they say no. It knows what benefits you can claim with no address and no bank account, and it knows the order things have to happen in, because the order is where people fall down. WHAT YOU ARE OWED, AND HOW TO GET IT Ask what money you should be getting and it will tell you, and then help you go and get it. Show it a letter you do not understand by taking a photograph of it. Ask it to write the letter back. PLANS THAT DO NOT GET LOST Getting off the street is a sequence: ID before a bank account before a job. Your helper writes the sequence down as a plan you can tick off, and picks it up again in any conversation, weeks later. WHAT IS OPEN NEAR YOU Food banks, shelters and day centres, with what would stop you being let in written before the address. Whether you need a referral, whether you can just turn up. YOUR WALLET Points from the charity that you spend in shops that take them. A pound is a hundred points. PRIVATE Nobody at the charity reads your conversations. You can see everything the helper remembers about you and delete any of it, and you can make it forget everything in two taps without asking anybody. There is one exception, and the app tells you about it the first time you use it: if you say something that suggests you are in danger, it raises a flag so a person can check you are alright. You need a member number from Connected Homeless to sign in. If you are working with us, ask any volunteer. Registered charity number 1172896.
