Not what it seems

At first it seems like a place to catalogue and inventory what you have privately. Turns out there’s a weird social media aspect to it that isn’t well explained so you don’t know what is being shared publicly. It’s also not intuitive and if you actually create an account it almost forces you to go through their AI unless you want to add multiple extra steps to do it manually. It says you can add people in groups but doesn’t show how you can share collections or catalogues with them if you’re all working on the same project. And when you’re creating your items, there is no ability to create new categories unless you lump some them underneath “other.”

It’s a good idea with a less than stellar execution. I’ll be looking for a different option.

Response from developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback — it is fair, and it helps. To clarify the most important point: everything you add is private by default. Items and collections only become visible to others when you explicitly create a share link. You can also add items fully manually — on the add screen, skip the AI/catalog suggestions and choose manual entry. You are right that custom categories and clearer sharing inside groups need work; both are on our list. If you are willing to give it another try, we would love to hear what would make it work for you: info@clubofthings.app
